Maybe I’m nuts but the holes on the new flywheel don’t quite line up with the holes on the old one on this 83 Nautique.

Did you follow Ken's suggestion from the other thread?

The ring gear is 157 teeth.

Don't tell them you need a flywheel for an automotive 351w because those all had 164 teeth and were a bigger diameter .

Here's a picture with the Ford part number cast into the flywheel There have been a few updated part numbers over the years but they're 157 teeth in the marine application

BTW, keeping every same topic in the same thread makes it easier to follow.

Which holes are you talking about? The 6 center holes where it bolts to the crankshaft or the holes where the damper plate would bolt on?

The 6 holes in the center aren't evenly spaced at every 60 degrees, it only goes on one way so that the counterweight is in the right spot and the engines balance is correct

Instead of every 60 degrees it goes 60 60 60 60 56 64 . It's hard to see by eye. It's Ford's way of making it only go on one way

Ok, got the holes to line up. Thank you for that. If I could just find some torque specs. The chart I have is not real clear. I need damper to flywheel, and shaft coupler mainly. I really appreciate y all’s help!

For the damper to flywheel somebody might tell you to look up the torque specs for a 5/16-18 coarse threaded bolt but it varies with bolt grade so you'd need to know that bit of info.

I've always done 20 to 22 ft lbs and haven't had one fall off yet

For the coupling they are 3/8 24 fine thread stainless steel bolts but a torque chart will vary depending on type of stainless steel so it's kinda a crap shoot.

30 ish works for me.
