I have a 86 SN 2001 my problem is that it is running rich it will leave black film on the back and sides of the boat. It will want to foul the plugs if in a long no wake zone     Runs good down the lake. When I am stopped for a half hour or so it can be hard to start.   It idles good but rich.    Any suggestions. Thanks

Is the choke staying closed? Floats stuck? Once warm verify choke is open. Once warm, shut it down and see if any fuel leaks down the barrels once motor is off.

Kevin,
Welcome to CCfan.
Take a look at Todd's ideas and get back to us. One thing about fuel running down the throats of the carb when you shut down the engine is does it start easier if you open up the throttle almost all the way? If so, what you are doing is allowing more air into the engine overcoming the rich fuel issue.

You need a carb overhaul.
