I have wrapped up the restoration of our 1977 Ski Tique. Last summer we found a lot of soft spots in the floor and rotted stringers so we thought it was time for new stringers and floor. I thought I would upgrade a few engine components while it was out of the boat. We found a bad valve that then lead me down the path of new heads, I continued to follow the rabbit hole that lead me to a roller cam, custom cut composite distributor gear and pretty much everything else on the engine.
As some of you know, the roller cam then left me on the hunt for either a bronze or composite distributor gear. I learned that they don’t exist but with enough searching, calling in favors and hundreds of phone calls across the country, I had some composite gears made.
In the end, it was worth it, this boat was purchased new by my wife’s father in 1977 and has remained in the family (with the exception of a few years from 2003-2005). My wife and her brother learned to ski behind this boat and I am planning to get my kids behind it next season.
So here is what stringers and a few upgrades lead me to.
New stringers, floor and carpet New interior Picked up a Mirror from a CCF member, ours has been missing for many years. The top deck and gunnel have been gel coated, including the dash where there was once a radio. I had the original speedometer converted to gps and chromed by Nautical Laugic. New platform I made from a few nice pieces of Burmese Teak I picked up at a local saw mill. Removable platform brackets from alloy marine. Roller cam ground for slightly better low end torque and wider power band, I didn’t go too aggressive on the grind. Upgraded to GT40P Heads Roller Lifters 1.6 Roller Rockers Block was line bored and honed Block bored .030 over Hypereutectic Pistons Crank was ground and balanced, I know some will say that’s a waste of money, but I though it was worth doing while the engine was apart. High volume oil pump Original Dual Diaphragm mechanical fuel pump rebuilt by Then and Now New water pump Rebuilt Sherwood Water Pump Edelbrock Performer Intake ACME 1210 Prop New shaft and coupler

All I can say is ..........The nerve of some people, starting a long winded discussion on original PCM engine and manifold colors and then not even using those colors.
I like your color choices
And I have to say it Steve,You know it's coming .............. I hope she can "Fly like an Eagle"
Now that you've done the legwork, it's time to see who else is interested in those gears you have for a RR roller cam setup
Congrats on a job well done

I had no idea there was so much passion behind grabber green, john deer green, "butt ugly green" (I believe that was one comment), etc.
I am very happy with how it turned out.
I will try to get some RPM vs Speed info this weekend. I think my tach is off a bit. I set the idle at 600 rpm using a shop tach, My tach on the dash is reading closer to 900.

For a moment, I thought that roller cam was going to be an expensive paperweight.
