Hey Gang....It's about that time to start a discussion of a River Ruckus 2020. Is there enough interest from the CCFan base to pull the trigger on what would be the 11th Annual SJRR.
I have done a little research into when we would do this if y'all wanted to continue the tradition and we have a bit of an issue.

The usual date is the same weekend of the Sunnyland boat show which is going to be March 19-22nd. The issue is that our normal HQ at Parramores Campground is pretty full this weekend and the following weekend. At the time of this post there are only 7 cabins left. That is really gonna limit the amount of participants attending unless we come up with another venue or change the date.

Daylight Savings time starts March 8th . If we pushed back the Ruckus to April, the weather would be a little warmer but we'd lose out on visiting the ACBS show. We can still do the River Run as it's a CCFan Favorite and just do the town of Tavarres and hit the local establishments for lunch and brews. It would be a different change of things and possibly for the better. I'll leave it up to you'se guys as this event is for us to officially kick off the boating andski season for many of us that aren't local. Soooooooooooooooooo Whatcha' think?

Did you try Castaways? Seems like they have way more cabin space than Parramores IRRC.

I'm hopeful we can make a spring CCFan trip.

Does April conflict with White Lake?

Posted By: Morfoot
Date Posted: November-13-2019 at 1:33pm
I personally like the idea of an April gathering because of the obvious reasons. Warmer weather and the river would be a bit warmer for water sports. The last couple of years it's been a bit chilly as old man winter usually doesn't fully release his grip on the cold season. I think the White Lake mini has run its course according to Townsend I believe. I've a wedding to attend to the first weekend of April and Easter is the following weekend. I'm not opposed to doing it Easter as Good Friday holiday might make it easier for Fans to travel as many are off that day. Could schedule it for April 16-19th but is that too late for folks?   Keep the feedback coming guys. I realize its early but planning ahead isn't a bad thing.

Dave the only reason to skip a year of the Ruckus is folks may be tired of doing it or just flat out not enough interest. I know Nautiquehunter is all in as he stepped up his game and is redoing a 68 Mustang just for the SJRR. Fossets are probably in too as Greg just added a sweet BFN to his fleet. Daughter Tamara wants to go if school allows and sounds like you're in. Just want input from the masses as this event is for ALL of us.

Easter might have booking issues at the facilities too. That’s typically a big camping myself and i have to reserve sites early. March is our worst month of the year, windy. That’s usually when I book boat maintenance, surgeries, etc because.

We haven’t been to the SJRR in several years- anything requiring flights/rentals or 1k+ miles of driving can always be a little logistically tricky- so take my 2cents with a large grain of salt... we are still working out winter/spring travel plans for ‘20.

At least from a northerners perspective, part of the draw for this event is the warm temps that can’t be had anywhere else just yet. The 70deg+ water and air we’ve always had in Mar sure beats the frozen lakes we have at home. By the time mid-late April rolls around, we can usually get decent boating weather without having to travel quite so far south- which is a good bit easier and cheaper to do for those coming from a distance.

We won't be coming down this year so sort of irrelevant but we could never make an April date. Our business is seasonal and we start getting real busy in March so the earlier the better.

Thanks for some feedback gang. Unless we can find another place to house the masses as Parramores is pretty full the month of March, my vote is to move it to April. Going back to previous posts. I can't do April 2-5 as I have a wedding to attend. Would Easter Weekend work for everyone? I do realize its a 3 day weekend for most everyone and folks to celebrate Sunday with family and go to church to celebrate the risen Savior but if we postpone it to the third weekend its pushing the event too late.

If consensus says lets do it then I will call Parramores to find out if they'll give us the same deal as years past.

Who can do Easter Weekend. Heather and I are in!

I was hoping to get more feedback from those that actually GO on a regular basis. My guess is we'll do it Easter Weekend provided that Parramores will still accommodate us and will give the usual discount rate that weekend. Unfortunately we can't please everyone but the driving factor for next years Ruckus is availability of Cabins for us all to remain in one place and a rec hall to do the usual Sat night Cookout. Already working on a guest appearance from a Celebrity of sorts who found out about this gathering when I talked with him at the Regatta. I'll update all on the CCFan discount at the campground when I find out but pencil in April 9-12.

Okay Gang here's the latest and greatest on the Ruckus. I just got off the phone with Parramores. They still have 7 Cabins left for March 19-22 and 13 cabins available for April 9-12. They aren't hosting a Fishing Tournament this year so I would guess it's the snowbirds still in town as the reason availability on cabins is low in March. They're gonna work with us again and knock 10% off the bill if you're a member of CCFan. The lady I talked too said she was gonna talk with the CEO to be sure and would let me know next Wednesday. I guess the decision on what day will be made then. I've already had some say they can't make it Easter weekend but others say it works better for them. Still on the fence on this one, I realize we can't make everyone happy on a date but want to be able to maximize the # of Folks in attendance.

Okay Gang … I'm pulling the trigger on a date for the 2020 SJRR. We're gonna do it Easter weekend April 9-12. Kinsey from Parramores called me yesterday and we discussed dates in March and April. I think with the potential of having 10+ families needing a Cabin based on last years attendance and those saying they want in on next year, we'd better do it in April. They are really making some changes for the better at this place by removing older " Cabins" and replacing them with real ones or renovating the other ones. They're also trying to add more cabins to the property so it sounds like they aren't going anywhere.
NOW, in order to get 10% off your RV slip, Cabin rental you have to call Parramores DIRECTLY and tell them you are a member of Correct Craft Fan and are making a reservation for the annual ski boat reunion. You can't get the discount if you use there online reservation system. Also, I was informed that Easter is a busy weekend for them so if your going, you'd better make a reservation ASAP. Their cancelation policy has changed for the better so if something comes up and can't go..... you'll get a full refund as long as you let them know 48 hrs before you're supposed to arrive. When you do call and reserve a spot you WILL be charged the full amount at the time you make it.

We 'll still do the CCFan favored Ocklawaha River Run to the Dora Canal on Fri and be able to explore the town and have lunch at one of the local watering holes. Being as it'll be April, I imagine the winds will be calmer and the water will be warmer so I anticipate more Skiing and Footin this time around on the way too Tavarres and on the way back.

Looking forward to this event as always and hanging with the regulars and once again. I'm hoping a "celebrity" of sorts will join us as he found out about this event when I talked with him at the Nautique Regatta and they asked me to let them know when it was as they wanted to attend if possible.

LET'S DO THIS!!!!!

Dave, we'd love to have you join us. They do have a couple of tent sites available if that's the route you wanna go and they're right in the middle of the campground next to the shower/restroom and the rec hall. Yep, there is always plenty of boat space so that won't be a problem for you guys. Well except for Jerry's boat. He is usually looking for empty space for his crew as he makes the Brady Bunch look like amateurs. Be good to see ya man. Come on down!

Good tip. Found nothing to Sanford but if we extend Wednesday to TuesdayI prices drop to under $300 to Orlando. Maybe we could sneak in a nautique factory tour.

Don't forget to look into JAX.... Might be a cheaper flight and you won't have the toll road expense either like you will if you fly to MCO. Just a thought.

I've talked several times with the owner and since we are such a large group and providing them a lot of business I was told all they need was a 48 hr notice but I will double check to be sure. That being said.....

Parramores called me yesterday to let me know that folks are calling wanting cabins and RV slips for this weekend that aren't CCFans. So it's gonna fill up fast so DO NOT DILLY DALLY on making a reservation for The Ruckus or you may be left without a place to stay at Ruckus HQ. People plan and make reservations early these days so don't miss the Boat so put down the Christmas stocking and give them a call and make a reservation before it's too late. I'm gonna throw this up on the Classic CC FB group page so that we can take over the campground with LPSL machines instead of there normal Easter Residents. Make it Happen!!!!

Thanks Tim, By far the worst part is that I cant be there. I was pretty fired up about the possibility. I am only into the Paramores camp site for about 90$ so neither the 10% or the wait are devastating losses.

This thread has been kind of quiet lately???? Central Florida in April for a weekend on the water, who wouldn't be interested!!!! We're just over 6 weeks away and looking for a great turnout. As of today, cabins, rv and tent spots are still available at Parramore's.

I am excited. Drug my boat home yesterday and fired her up on the hose to shake loose some cobwebs and give the battery a winter work out. Fresh VR1 in her for the Ruckus. Looking forward to running with everyone again.

Not enough time in the work schedule to merit a long weekend in Florida this year. Hope to make it back down in the next few years as we absolutely love this event!

It has been quiet and I haven't piped up in awhile as I'm still trying to finish up moving. Trying to get two houses moved along with all the toys with all the rain we've had here in the south it's been a real challenge. Needless to say; I haven't been on the site too much.

Mars hate to hear that y'all ain't coming as I was looking forward to seeing You, Zoe and the kids.
I know that having it Easter weekend put the nocando on many folks calendar but it was the one of two best weekends for cabin availability. The other wasn't a weekend I couldn't go because of a prior commitment. For those that are going we'll make the best of the small group in attendance and with all the rain we've had the water levels should be fantastic. I'll throw up a reminder on the FB Classic CC page.

Hopefully I'll get settled in the new Lake home soon and will be able to get focused on this again. It'll be here before we know it. So start getting em cleaned and waxed up cause the SJR leaves a nasty film on the boat.

Hey y'all. Not a lot to update but we're just shy of a month out from The Ruckus. Looks like a smaller group of Fans this year and that was to be expected giving we're having to push this annual event into April and Easter weekend on top of that. Good news is that the weather will be warmer and less food to need to feed the crew but we'll have a great time as always. Threw up a post on FB with the update on Cabin availability at Parramores. They still are showing 7 left so if you want one they're available.

No reason to change the usual schedule of events unless we decide that's what we wanna do so

Thursday--- Run the SJR and do dinner at the Blackwater

Friday--- Trailer to Moss Bluff Dam and run the 25 miles down the Ocklawaha River and do lunch somewhere in Tavares. No boat show to contend with so head back whenever and we'll extra time to ski on our way back. Castaways for Dinner???

Saturday--- Watersports whatever then head to the Glenn for our usual raft up and chilling out. Sun evening the Grilling out at the Rec Hall and more hanging out with the CCFan Family.

Sunday--- TBD!

It'll be here before you know it so start getting your Boats ready for the SJRR. Get em' waxed for sure as the River Scuzz can be murder on the gelcoat. Don't forget your anchors, boat bumpers, red solo cups and Suncreen. If ya got any questions please give me a holla. Most of y'all got my number anyway. If ya don't then PM me and I'll send it to ya.
It's almost time for "A Ruckus"!

Hey Y'all. It seems that this Corona Virus thing is getting pretty serious with Social activities being shut down totally or participants kept to a very minimum. I need some help from you Florida CCFans. If Gov. DeSantis puts a stop to any and all social gatherings of any type then please let me /us know. I may not see or know if something is implemented so holla!!!!! At the time of this posting, I'm still planning on moving forward with this event but it's subject to change at a moments notice if the Government steps in with bans on gatherings. NY has already done it and Miami so I've seen. As always, do what is right for you and your family about coming or not.
If most of you wanna call it off then speak up and let us know and we'll cancel it this year. It's still 3 weeks away and a lot can happen between now and then but for now......Bring on The Ruckus!!

A friends kid is in Ft. Lauderdale and they just closed the beaches. It seems like FL is starting to shut down. The damn New Yorkers on the news today were yelling about how some of us non-city dwellers were not shutting down and sacrificing like they are. That's why some of choose not to live in their utopia.

Crazy times.

Well..... I guess it's a matter of whether we wanna still do this or not. I'm bummed for sure but there's still a loop hole in this. Restaurants are limited to 50% capacity so we all wouldn't be able to go out as a group. We could all just plan on eating in our individual cabins on Thurs, Fri and Sat OR just provide a grill and throw on whatever you wanna grill out and picnic it.

If going by the #'s that are confirmed above ...we're only talking about 20-25 people. What say Y'all????

Add STATE campgrounds to the closure list. Which is beyond stupid. Isn’t social distancing typically the idea behind camping? I just called my private campground and they said (as of now) they’re on an entirely different level as they have long term guest (residents) as such as using it as our beach house. I’d assume being private Parramores falls under the same umbrella. Now we know how Rome fell.

Frankly I wouldn’t plan on canceling SJRR altogether yet but I’d move it towards “unlikely to happen”. They’re adding closures everyday and I’d suspect a statewide lockdown shortly.

Unusual times. I am not sure as to my opinion, but Smith Family lives and work have been disrupted. All schools closed so that's good, Dr Debb working overtime, that's bad? What say all? We still have refund abilities? I just called to check in with Paramore's and left a VM.

Well, not the news that anyone wants to hear, but the safety and well being of everyone is priority. I'm all for the small turnout that was planning to attend this year, but a possible option IF everyone decides to postpone our gathering, could be the SouthEast Regatta in Georgia or a Parramores event sometime in June or July??? With possible State park closures as well as the restaurant and bar closures, we would be limited on activities besides drinking like fish, which I too am not in objection to!! Just my thoughts on the situation.... Stay safe everyone!

Thanks for the input Gang. After much thought along with a few words shared from Heather and a few CCFans I've known since I've been a member here I think it's best we Cancel The Ruckus!
As Mike mentioned above, safety of everyone involved is top priority and as much as I truly look forward to this event every year as it's the only time I get to hang with many of you we need to forgo the 2020 SJRR. The scenery, boating, fellowship, and water ski season kickoff is what this event has ALWAYS been about, we need to concerned about those who make the trip anyway. Yes the local businesses need our patronage but with the unforeseeable end to this thing, The money spent getting there, etc might be money we needed for tougher times ahead if this thing continues.

Just got off the phone with Kinsey at Parramores and they will offer you credit at the Campground or refund your money. They totally understand the situation and asked for us to please keep them in mind if we do this later this year or next year.

Nautiquehunter and I are both on Lanier along with a few other CCFans who are close by and since the Nautique SE Regatta is on Lanier this year I'll second Mike's suggestion that we reconvene there. Different scenario all together and the water won't be nice like were used to. (well, just think of getting to the Silver Glen on Lake George and that's Lanier on a weekend

The Corona On me will have to wait until June at the Regatta or when The Ruckus is on for later this year or next.

Stay safe you guy's and as always Holla' if ya need anything!

I have put off throwing in the inevitable towel., but this seems best. We are thinking that we will need to cancel but we plan to offer them the 10% cancellation fee. I worry about businesses like theirs and at least for now, I am more recession proof.

June or July could be a big challenge. Unless this really drags out, we will be working on getting another kid off to college. But we will see.

We appreciate all the planning and work done to help make this happen and are very much looking forward to the next one.

Offering the 10% fee is the nice, right thing to do but private campgrounds, for the next 60 days are probably going to be at full capacity since every state and county campground is closed. There’s a lot of full timers and snowbirds “homeless” in the state right now.

I too had to play phone tag with Parramores and Kinsey did call me back promptly. She said all who paid should have been refunded their money or if you haven't it should be there by today. I checked my account and it was there. I did mention to her that Folks still wanted to have a Ruckus on the River so we may postpone it to Sept or Oct and she said Oct has superb weather so we may do that. You can bet your sweet Bippy that it WON'T be GA/FLA weekend. She also said that if we did move it to October that they would still give us a 10% discount. Hopefully this Corona V thing will run it's course and instead of beginning the ski seson on the river.......we'll end it on the river.

Be safe you guys and keep your social distancing at 28' off or at 100'. At least Gas prices are low to help ease the pain. See ya on the water.
