I have an 83 ski 2001 with the 1:1 tranny. At idle after it warms up while in neutral the transmission makes a chirping noise. It goes away when you engage the transmission. Any guidance as to what it may be? The transmission works fine, no slipping, no vibrations. Fluid is like new( has about 50 hours on it).

some times the bronze clutches will make a chirping noise which is not a problem, also the springs on the damper may be getting a little weak and causing some noise, most likely the clutches though. once heard a chirping noise after pulling the trans twice on a larger boat and it ended up being the stuffing box rubbing on the prop shaft, i wouldve swore it was the trans. keep an ear on the noise, pretty much normal
