Maybe maybe not! All this coming week the prediction is near freezing days and low teens over nights. We didn't get the 12" of snow yesterday and last night as predicted. Only about 6". We always seem to get that one last shot of weather in April.

FYI to anyone who's wondering, the picture Gary posted is from a webcam at a restaurant down the road from me.

Geeze-iz, it still looks like that up there? Petey gets a hall pass for being grumpy at times. I’m bitching because it’s in the 70’s at sunrise when I’m on the water.

The trails are officially closed but occasionally I see a sled run across the lake. Then there's still the ice fishermen that are still out there. No shanties so it's just pull a sled out for some day fishing.

Btw, I'm not whining! It's northern Wisconsin!

You’re kidding me? They’re walking on ice like in the above picture!? That looks dangerous. I’ve never seen outside my freezer but I’d imagine the ice has to be thick and completely covering lake?

What is the point of snowmobiling with no sports or bars open ?
Suffering here today with a hazy day-were off to the left 5 miles away by the white line

Todd,
The picture is deceiving because there's an aerator keeping the dock area free of ice through the winter. It's easier on the pier pilings. Out in the middle there's still 2 feet of ice.

You southerners can keep all that nice, heat, humidity, bugs, pollen season, tornados, gators.
I’ll take snow up to the waist any time.

Pete.....I was starting to worry a bit about our upcoming boating season in WI, with everything being cancelled. I just heard from the guy where I keep my boat that "so far, so good". He made my day. After all we have been going through, please do not mess with my boating season!! You hearing the same a little further north? The Gov'ner letting you boat up there?

I did hear a guy on the radio say that in Michigan, they can boat in sailboats, BUT, not in motoboats. Not sure what that is about?? Not sure that is the official word for all of MI for all the upcoming boating season.

Dave,
I feel it's too early to tell. I don't think anyone can. Sounds like where you keep you boat, he's being very hopeful.

They say the social distancing is working but then you hear about a positive that comes up who hasn't traveled or been in contact with any other positive. A couple days ago the 6th case came up in our county and they can't figure out how he got it.

At the end of January with the super moon and the high tide you would walk across my neighbors dock and get wet feet. Now it's down 18" last time I looked

Actually the gators are not too bad notice I have my back to him- now the two legged snakes out of Miami, those you have to keep an eye on.

In Michigan you can paddle or sail but no motorized vessel at least until May 1st. My gut feeling is that it will be extended.

Wonder how they figure a boat with a motor is different than a sail boat when it comes to a virus.

You know down here every sail boat has a motor. This is where a skylon etc has an advantage over a tower- rig yourself up a "sail" and go out

Another rule/law that makes no sense at all? I can't think of a reason for that, beyond someone in charge just not liking power boats. If I lived there I'd suggest banning the sailboats because they probably spread virus droplets with their huge sails.

I was referring to non motorized sailboats. Thought process is with motors. you have to buy gasoline at the pumps ( where virus might be lurking ). No pun intended - it might be a tad bit overboard but would rather caution on the safer side myself and then get back to normal life sooner .

I'm with you on caution, just not in favor of ridiculous, arbitrary rules. So I guess they feel the person with the sailboat doesn't drive to the lake to use it? Or maybe they think sailboat people only ride bicycles? Do they notice that there are cars on the road, and those cars burn gas?

Buying gas at a self serve pump is one of the lowest risk things you can do IMO. Far less risk than a trip to the grocery store or pharmacy.

Todd,
Here's the temps this morning. Yes, still plenty of ice with the 2 degrees out there.
