Before I bought my 00 Air, I looked at a 98 Air with 2 batteries. Mine only has one in the furthest fore compartment at the bow. One thing is for sure. Only one battery will fit in there. Where’s yours mounted? Thx

On my Sport, I relocated the battery to the port side behind the observers seat. Would be a great place for a second if needed, plus helps with weight offset of driver.

The '99 we just bought has one in the bow compartment and one in the compartment in front of the driver. Perko switch is mounted on the driver kick plate.

So the 2nd battery is still in the bow just in that compartment in front of the driver?

In my 2002 I mounted a battery tray with all of the wiring ready to go behind the observer in the storage compartment. In the back of the compartment so I can still use the under the seat storage. I have had it three years now and still have not added the second battery. I installed a switch in the bow area in front of the driver to switch batteries if necessary, but have not implemented it.

One battery is in the forward compartment. Is this the factory location?

2nd is in the compartment just in front of the helm. It looks like they just mounted a battery tray in the low spot towards the inside of the hull.

The perko switch is mounted towards the top of the drivers kick panel.

I haven't used this boat yet so I can't really comment if this is a good location or not. I doubt this compartment gets used as much as the other side for storage but like Don says you can offset some weight if you install it in front of the observer seat. Probably depends if you have stereo amps etc.. installed as well. This boat had 3 amps installed. One on the back of the kick panel and two on the floor between the 2nd battery and the kick panel. The stereo is a POS so I removed most of it for now.

That location in the very fore compartment is the factory mounting spot. You CANT get 2 batteries in there. I’ve tried. I’ll look at sending some wires over to the other compartment like yours. I would like to put 2 in the storage area behind the observers seat but it’s full of amplifiers and sub woofers. Lol thanks for the posting them up.

Yea I’m going to put my 2nd one under left side compartment to offset weight. It’s only 2 feet away from the cranking battery and only a small run of wire will be required. I may add the blue sea switch in that compartment as well. There should be plenty of room. I’ll mount it on a small piece of plywood for sturdiness. Thanks for posting your pics.
