Hey Guys - It's been a while, but writing for a bit of advice. I had a very soft (rotten) spot of flooring between the seats & engine and investigated as I was afraid of my ski pylon being compromised. Boy was it... the flooring literally fell apart in my hands. I decided to cut out a significant amount of mushy (saturated) flooring which then revealed rotten stringers. This was not really a surprise, but now I have a ski boat that can't pull a skier. Of course, it's Mid may and I want to use the boat this season. I don't have time or want to do a proper stringer replacement right now, so looking to do a one-season band-aid fix. My thinking is that I can marry a PT 2x4 to the bad stringers (or even composite?) , and patch the floor above.... Or I can notch out a bit more floor above the stringer and drill down in (if there's anything left). Does the stringer have a notch there, or is the floor what's rotten? Either way, if I can get a solid enough grip, I'd drill the hole in for the pylon, and re-install. Any thoughts on how best to do this... and am I just being crazy? For what it's worth, the only towing the boat would do is an 8year old on a tube so nothing aggressive by any stretch. Pics attached... I ripped up the carpet and you can see the soaking wet wood...I peeled back the fiberglass and removed most of the wood by hand. Once I hit wood, out came the jigsaw, and in the second pic, you can see what I removed, as well as the compromised stringer. Note there's still rot further towards the battery, but I stopped at the parallel stringer. Again, this is a temp fix. I get it... fix the stringers. Just cant now. Sadly this little tique runs amazing, but I'm questioning if it's worth the work. Thanks in advance - Eric  ------------- '79 Skitique - first boat |

I'd park it for the season & pick up an old beater outboard runabout to use this season. I can't recommend stringer sistering as there is no way to know if it is going to be safe. ------------- “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” Ben Franklin |

I did not have any rot, but had a stainless cradle pylon support made to support pylon Holds it well. I’ll try and load pic |
