Hey everyone. Just put in a new double taper shaft from General Propeller. The prop to strut gap measures 1.200". I know ideal would be 1" max, but do you see this causing a problem? I gave them the measurement from the output face to the back of the strut for reference. I called them and they didnt seem to think it would, so I figured I give it a try and see. Im am installing a new ACME prop at the same time and noticed after lapping that there is still 3/16" of un lapped surface in the prop taper but not sure if this is typical. Thoughts? Should I have them redo the driveshaft or run it?

If it were previously existing I probably wouldn’t bother taking it apart, but that’s excessive for sure. On a new shaft I’d be pretty disappointed with it, especially after providing them the correct measurement beforehand. I’d have them take 3/4” out of it- I aim for 3/8-1/2”.
