Hello Correct Craft Junkies,
Just purchased a heap for 1500.00 needs lots of work and Love. I am looking for any ideas as well as an outline of step to the process of redoing this boat. I see alot of potential in this vessel.
1st issue looking at the id number can seem to tell what year it is. I would like to try and restore to original look if possible.

WITH OUT FURTHER ADUE: HERE SHE IS

Early thoughts are to a finish product like this:

OPEN TO ANY COMMENTS OR IDEAS OF HOW I SHOULD PROCEED. FIRST WOULD BE TO FIND OUT THE YEAR OF THE BOAT ID SUGGESTS 1972 BUT NOT SO SURE.

PJ,
Post the HIN (hull identification number). It's molded into the hull at the upper starboard side of the transom. It will indicate the year of the hull at least.

That’s not a HIN from CC. A 72 would predate the transom HIN. I don’t see a plate near the throttle either- maybe removed when painted.

What “Boat ID” are you referencing that calls it a 72?

I am almost home I will look to see if I see one.
Is it possible it’s not a Nautique?

Sure looks like a Correct Craft with some goofy HIN screwed on.

Probably state issued since the 72 hull would predate the transom HIN.

Yep, issued by state of Indiana.

So obviously the engine is the first! Any insight on this old Chrysler Marine Engine? Good/bad what size it is? Having a guy come out and look at it to see if it can be salvaged.

I'd have to say the boat comes first. Have you had a chance to check the condition of the stringers?

I agree with Pete. If you want to fiddle with the engine a bit, pull the plugs and spray some oil down the plug holes. Let it sit overnight and then try to turn the engine using a breaker bar on the crank bolt. If it turns, you should be able to get it running. I wouldn't put any more into it until you determine whether the hull is solid.

Check the stringers closely. The boat sat outdoors uncovered so it's definitely gotten wet. Tap along the stringers with a small hammer and listen for dead/rotten spots. Try tightening the engine mount lag bolts - if they spin freely, the stringers are pulp.
