Looking for some advise...84SN2001 with 351....boat has been running great all summer and last night dies at idle. Always marine gas used.....installed new plugs, wires, cap, rotor and fuel filter before summer. Removed air/fuel mixture screws and blew some air and carb cleaner and reinstalled per the number of threads as I took them out. Idle at 700. Original carb only rebuilt once 8 years ago. Bypassed gas tank and fuel filter with same results. It does have the electric ignition installed many moons ago which the external ballast resistor is bypassed and using internal 12V coil. Did some coil testing and below are the results;
At coil 2.6v (1st try) 0.0v (2nd try) ignition switch on (aux) red lead on + & blk leed on - terminals of coil At coil 11.6v ignition switch on (aux) red lead on + at coil and blk lead on grounding block on engine (same if hooked up to electric choke negative) —————————————————— At coil 10.55k (20k)ohms secondary resistor - ignition switch off red lead on + and blk lead in output plug terminal At coil 1.5 (200)ohms primary resistor - ignition switch off red lead on + and blk lead on - terminals ——————————————————- At ignition switch off 12.2v At ignition switch on (aux) 11.6v At battery 12.2v
Here are some videos. Any thoughts? Coil seems to be within specs? Thanks everyone
