Good morning! 1990 ski nautique.. running great with new steering cable thanks to help and advice on here!
Old owners of my boat live on our lake and I talked to them about some Genera maintenance tips this weekend.
It’s been a while since they changed the transmission fluid . I checked the level and it looks a little low. The transmission says use 20-20w oil . Should I try to find some and just add a little and wait until
End of season to change.. or change it all out now?
Saw some other posts saying you can also use ATF which I have on hand.. can I add that to top off the oil level?
Thanks in advance

2 quarts capacity. Dextron III. Use a vacuum fluids extractor. Just don’t get the hose caught and stuck. You should be able to suck out 2 quarts. Replace what you removed.

Based off that should I use a small diameter line .. like an aquarium bubbler size?

Small copper tubing is best. Get a size / diameter to fit inside the fluid evacuation hose.

You should probably click on the link below and then click on the link in the 3rd post down in that thread for some good info on tubes to use when sucking it out.

As far as the fluid goes, see what's in it now. Maybe there's ATF, maybe there's 20w engine oil. ATF has that distinctive Red color, engine oil more clearish brown.

If it's got engine oil and been running good on it for the past 30 years, why change now. stick with what you have.and use engine oil. If it's ATF in there , then use ATF.

Also why do half a change? pump it all out and replace it all

And no fair mixing ATF and engine oil
