I have Stargazer PP. Is it generally recommended to upgrade to a Z Box?

Thanks,

Mark

Hello,

I believe his name is Joel. He is Hollywood's blood brother. Please do not hold that against him. Screen Name M3fan.  He has a old 196 Ski Nautique with Star Gazer and Perfect Pass Zero off adder.

He also has a Ski Nautique Ski 200 with drive by wire and true zero off.

He can tell you if it is worth it or not. I believe he will say it is.  Also, he has a blog where he speaks about ski stuff called 15 off. You can find he there.

If you are planning on skiing tournaments on a regular basis you’d be better off going to Zero off. Unless you currently have a 2003-later PCM GM engine you’ll need a donor engine. Jody Seal at Florida Inboards could help you with procurement and installation. If you’re just wanting a more precise speed control then Z box could be helpful. I hVe friends with Z box and after a great deal of “tinkering” they were able to get Z box close to Zero off.
As for myself I don’t ski the course unless behind a current boat with Zero off. My 2004 SN has Star Gazer and it is quite satisfactory for open water skiing.
