Hey CCF people,

I just picked up a 96 SN 196. It has a carbed version of the GT40. I haven't owned a carbed boat before but I have had to adjust the carb to keep bringing up the idle. After a little bit of use, the idle will go lower than normal and I have to adjust again. This cant be normal??? Can somebody more educated on the matter help please? Maybe carb needs a rebuild?

Chris,
What are you adjusting on the carb? The idle mix screws or the curb idle screw?

Hmmm...I'm not sure. Its a small slotted screw on port side of the engine carb. Clockwise seems to bring idle down and counter brings it up.

Google and YouTube can be helpful. This is assuming its a holley and it's not a GT-40 with a carb GT-40s have fuel injection.

Chris,
How about posting a picture of your engine showing the carb?
