| Trying to make use of a Buick 231 that I have in the garage. I would like to use it in a 63 Correct Craft. Does anyone know what drive transmission it would work with? This is my first inboard and I am definitely lost. |

Steve, Universal Marine marinized the Buick V6. The first was in 63 and used the 198 cu. in. Then I believe in 65 they went to the 225 cu. in. | I would "pretend" that it is a chevy. Pretty sure GM would have used the same trans input shaft specifications since auto transmissions were "probably" the same across the GM brands. |

Any of the Borg Warner 70 series will work with it as long as you have the right bellhousing to mate the engine to the transmission. That includes a B/W 70, 71, 70B, 71B, 70C, 71C and later versions labeled as 10-17, along with some others. You don't have to make believe it's a Chevy either You do have to have the right flywheel and damper plate for the B/W transmission to mate to though. Do you have a lot of other marine parts for a 225/231 hanging around like exhaust manifolds, engine mounts, starter, carburetor, distributor, alternator? Depending on what you might have for parts, it could be a tough job.
