New member here.

This past weekend I drove to Texas to get our old boat! It's been sitting in a barn for God only knows how long.

This is the boat that I learned to ski behind, and it would be so awesome to teach my boys how to ski behind the exact same boat!

My dad bought it new from my uncle, who owned a Correct Craft dealership at the time. This boat may be unique because my dad wouldn't buy it unless he could get it without the "Ski Tique" lettering on the sides. My uncle was able to get it from the factory with just the stripes going the full length of the boat and no lettering. Makes it look completely different. (I can't figure out how to post pictures from a phone. I'll try from my desktop tonight.)

I loved this boat growing up, so when I went to get it there was never any question that I was going to take it home, no matter what condition it was in. Fortunately it appears to be pretty sound! (At least from my admittedly very limited knowledge). According to the people that had it, the last time it was on the water it ran great! Wouldn't it be awesome if all I have to do to get it running is change the fluids, give it some fresh gas, and a new battery! Yeah I'm not holding my breath on that.

Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself and my boat! My goal is to have it lake-ready by springtime!

Brett,
Welcome to CCfan and Tique ownership. Interesting story especially the part of no Tique graphics on the hull sides. It's a fun boat and I'm sure you will get lots out of it.

It looks more like a 77 than a 78 due to the flat aft deck. Maybe a very early 78 or a late 77. Post the HIN that's molded into the upper starboard side of the transom.

It looks like it’s been well cared for.  Speed up your goal and water test by Halloween!

Dug up an old picture from 1979. That handsome fellow in the middle is little me with my sister and dad. Mom's behind the camera.

This is an awesome story and cool one off boat with no lettering. Good luck! Agree, splash that boat soon.

Cool boat and story!

Don't pull a Clark Griswald!  Also, you might need to put a swim platform on for him!

Nice!

Count your blessings that it was in good stewardship and is not a steaming heap by now

Cool story and glad you could get it back!  I'm guessing the people you bought it from enjoyed hearing that your family were the original owners.

From the looks, I agree you can change the oil, put a new impeller in, and fire it up.  If it's been sitting for years without running you'll want to get some oil in the cylinders at a minimum first, I'd maybe want to prime it by spinning the oil pump, but again it depends on when it was last run.  I wouldn't be able to look at it without wanting to get it running NOW!
