If you cover coil, distributor, alternator, solenoid switch, carburetor, etc. a steam cleaner will shine that bad boy up.  A low pressure hot water pressure washer works, but be cautious and don’t get water / soap where it doesn’t belong.  After, spray everything down with WD-40.

John,
Next time you post your engine picture, take it from the other side so it doesn't show that Fram oil filter! Big smile

The past few years I have been using a product called Purple Power, there is another brand with a similar name and both are citrus acid based so mostly bio degradable but both work very well.  Spray it on, work it around with a stiff brush and wash it off with water.  I have found it it spends much time on your hands you will get a minor skin burn so gloves are a good idea.   Any polished aluminum you clean be sure to wash it off as soon as you get the grease lose.  I have found if you leave it on polished aluminum it will leave a mark.  I have cleaned several engines, transmissions differentials with this stuff.  Local parts store sells a gallon for around $20 and it goes a long way.
