| My rear floor section near the port hole has become weak and cracked. Is it possible to purchase this floor section? It comes right out. Any other fixes for this issue?.I don't want to leave it as it could damage the muffler if it got pushed down by some big guy or girl. Any help on this would be appreciated. I will probably just place a plywood piece over it temporarily. Thank You |

I noticed you have had no responses to your question and now have posted in the parts wanted section. I will take a shot at your floor problem. My 1998 SN 176 had a weak/cracked rear floor section in the center of the floor from a previous owner “too much weight” issue. The rear floor section was made of an approximately 1” thick fiberglass “honeycomb” core sandwiched between layers of fiberglass mat. I removed the carpet and then cut out the damage section of the floor. I then used thin strips of multilayers of fiberglass mat and resin and laid them out to reproduce the pattern of the damaged section of the honeycomb core and then let it set up. I then took my dried reproduced core and fiberglassed it into the original floor section using more mat strips and resin. Once that was dry I grounded off any significant imperfections and I then used larger pieces of fiberglass mat and resin to cover the new honeycomb core. I then ground down any high spots/imperfections to assure the floor was flat and replaced the carpet. I wasn’t too concerned about the under side of the floor since my repair did not involve the area of the floor that rests on the stringers. If your damaged area involves an edge of the floor section where it rests on the stringers you have to be careful to keep the edge smooth so it resets flat and doesn’t “rock” when walked on.
