Hi all, looking for info on a Sherwood pump. Old, on a 1965 cc Mustang Ford 260. I need a new impeller.

Wayne,
Here's the chart showing the common Sherwood impellers. Without the exact pump model you have take a look and see if you can match up some dimensions.

With the part number, you can then go shopping. Here's a start but there's probably a less cost out there.

The Jamestown link will also get you to more details like the bore and it's type.

And here's a link to an old thread, he had a 65 Mustang with a 260 and gave his pump part number, then it was easy to come up with an impeller number. Yours might be the same.........maybe

It's not a common one and it's pretty expensive too Wink

Here's one place to find one if that's what you need

Wayne,
When you open up the pump, look for a model number on the housing face where the gasket goes. Many of the Sherwood pumps were stamped there.

Cooling issues this year or are you just swapping the impeller for good practice?

Make sure you get a genuine Sherwood impeller . There are a lot of aftermarket impellers out there , They look the same but don't pump the same. I just went through a month of cooling issues on the 67 Mustang only to find out the Globe run dry impeller was the problem all along.

No cooling issues but After searching around I couldn’t locate the impeller so I asked the owner of Marine engines in Holliston,Ma. I showed him the pump and impeller. He said he could find one and he took the old one to compare. He wasn’t able to find one and the old one got lost in the shuffle. But it was in tough shape. Number stamped in 010785G then below that it has a V 4 .

It takes the same 10187 impeller linked earlier in the thread (in my last post.)

Just think, if you gave that info in post #1, it would have been so much easier Wink

Ok I ordered a 10187. Thank you all for your help. If I could figure out how to post pics on here I could show you how worn the inside of the pump is. I noticed the newer stuff 70’s up have rebuild kits. But don’t see anything close to what mine looks like.
