Quick newbie question....

I recently found out that towing a tube with a wakeboard tower is a no no....so my question is, if you are going to tube behind a Natique (sport or ski), where is the appropriate place to attach the tow rope?  I assume the ski pylon would be acceptable?  One big negative to doing that (I think) is that as the boat moves, wouldn't the rope be hitting people in the head that sit in the back bench of the boat?

Otherwise, I was wondering if you could attach the rope to the bar at the back of the boat (see attached photo with arrow).

It's my opinion that there is no place to appropriatly tie off a tube.

Your best bet is to use the pylon & put everyone but the observer in the tube.

So just to be clear, the ski pylon would be strong enough to pull a tube?  Even if it submarines?

Also, if you have an open bow...could two adults sit in the bow?  I realize it may be a bit squishy, but is there any safety/legal reasons why they couldnt?

This can be a tough crowd when it comes to tubes and tubing.  The negative visceral reaction typically comes from past bad experiences with idiotic, clueless boat operators that have no common sense or courtesy to others on the lake.  As a general rule, my Ski Nautique is allergic to tubes...except when my grand-kiddos want Papa to take them tubing.  Then I tolerate tubes and pull the kiddos around as long as they want.  DISCLAIMER...this tubing activity takes place in the middle of the day when the water is rough and nobody wants to ski.  So, as long as you are a courteous tube-guy and don't destroy smooth ski water, I won't ask SEAL Team 6 to scuttle your tube.

Multi-rider tubes are very heavy and can put significant strain on the tie-off point -- particularly on longer ropes and wild-a$$ turns.  IMO, a one-to-two person size tube with reasonable speeds might OK on the pylon or rear grab-handle.  My concern is that I once saw a nasty bent pylon in a boat from over-stressing while pulling a big tube.  A buddy has a mid-1980s Ski Nautique that has been used to pull a big multi-person tube.  He used his rear lifting eye as a tie-off point.  That lifting eye is now very loose and has wallowed-out the fiberglass around it and needs to be mended.

If I REALLY wanted to tube, I might look at installing a dedicated tow point that had a good size steel backing plate that was glassed into the transom.

I seem to recall this warning at the aft small pylon?

I agree and they don't even have the courtesy to surf in the middle of the lake. Yesterday the wakes were to the point were one of my mooring cleats with 4" screws was ripped out of my dock were my little 14' fishing boats was tied up. Then several of my neighbors wood drop in dock sections were popped up and out of his aluminum pier. 

Pulling two on one tube is very dangerous. There heads can smack together like water melon's. My wife is a Critical Care Transport Nurse. Almost each summer she has to take one to the hospital in the helicopter with a smashed in head due to smacking heads with another child. The boat was pulling two tubes with one person on each tube and they came together. The emergency room doctor was the father of one of the kids that was critically injured. Not a good day for sure. 

Please limit it to one per tube if you are going to tube.
