 Hello
I have a 1982 Ski Nautique with the 351 Ford.
I have an aftermarket alternator that has four wires. I am looking for a wiring diagram please.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Matt

Matt,
This may help but it only shows 3 wires. I know Ken will be by who can really help. Post what alternator you purchased.

Is this a PCM 351 engine or maybe a Commander 351.<

It would also be good to know what your old alternator was and how many wires it had hooked to it.

An 82 most likely had a Prestolite with an external voltage regulator unless it was replaced at some time in the past. The regulator would be on the back of the engine near the relay/solenoid for the starter and the main breaker.

This has a Prestolite ignition, 351 PCM Ford  it looks looks a Mando alternator.AC155614 M56750
I got into this project at halftime. I do not have old alt. Probably two of the wires can be combined.

Thanks again, Matt

Take a look at the Mando pictures in the thread in the link below and see if that helps.

In the picture with short wires hooked to the alternator you'll see the following.

Orange is output terminal

Jumper installed between output and sensing terminal

Black to Ground

Yellow is excitation from 12 volt  source, same power that supplies the ignition  and the choke

Maybe the second half will be good to you Wink

If you have an external regulator as mentioned earlier, it can be removed completely, since this Mando is internally regulated

Thanks for your help. Tomorrow I will get back at the Nautique.

Not knowing if you had an external voltage regulator or not, you might have to be working from this early PCM wiring diagram for your boat.

The Purple wire with the Purple arrow pointing to it going to the regulator would be used to supply alternator excitation by lengthening it to go up to the alternator.

The stuff circled in Orange isn't needed any more
