Subject: engine hard to start after warm-up

I have a 1990 Nautique with a Pleasurecraft/Ford 351 engine. After warming up, the engine now requires that I give it some gas (in neutral) in order to start it. I turned up the idle, but that didn't help, so I turned it back down.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

My 85 wouldn't starter after it was warm either. Mine ending up being a bad coil. $30 fix.

uncle-buck-
sounds like a carb adjustment and or overhaul is in order...but if I was a guessing man, it sounds like an idle mixture screw(s) adjustment

I adjusted the mixture screws, but that didn't do the trick.

Next step is a full tune-up: cap, rotor, wires, plugs, points, condenser, coil, dwell, timing, fuel filter cartridge.

If that doesn't solve the problem, I think I'll check the fuel lines, fuel tank ventilation, and check for vacuum leaks around the carb and intake mainfold.

If that doesn't solve it, it may be time to rebuild the carb.

Any other ideas/suggestions would be most welcome.
