Hey Guys -

Looking for advice. I'm considering the purchase of a new boat and have two contenders. Both feel high for the market, but I'd love some opinions on if the price is unreaslistic, but also, what boat is "nicer". Note my failmy is about tubing... skiing will come but right now it's a family boat and looking for more space than our current 79 SkiTique.

Boat specs are below. I think I like the 89 better... but not sure the up/downsides of each beyond wood v composite stringers.... and questioning if both are overpriced.

BOAT OPTION 1. 1998 Correct Craft super sport - $25000

595 hrs, excellent condition. no tower (bonus) no bimini. Very clean. Stored on trailer, under cover / barn in winter.

Not left in the water. Some upholstery wear & tear but no rips.

BOAT OPTION 2. 1989 Correct Craft sport nautique - $20000

680 hrs, excellent condition. No tower (bonus) no bimini. Very clean...near immaculate. Rock solid stringers, perfect gel coat, mint upholstry, and you could eat off the engine. Stored on trailer, indoors always.

Forgot to mention, both are open bow which seems harder to find.. What do you think they should be going for?

November may be a better time to buy. Those prices seem quite high to me.

I understand the open bow desire. My last 3 boats were open bow. The open bow is usually a “love it or hate it” topic. The Sport Nautique is a good option for skiing and, ahh, other water activities.

Remember that pre 1993, the CC boats had wood stringers and wood rot may be an issue.

Thanks - moving on from wood stringers seems a nice peace of mind thing for me which is my hesitance on the 89. Curious the debate on open bow? Guessing "real" skiiers think it's silly, while families may love?

Normal market an ‘89 is a 8 - 10,000 boat all day long. ‘98 SS, 16 - 18,000

In spring 2019 pre- COVID panic, I picked up a 2000 sport with a GT-40 motor 800 hrs average condition 16,000 as an example.

Sellers are taking advantage of the Covid panic and overpricing everything outdoors related.

Thats frustrating. Maybe I'll be happy with my little Tique for another season... although once things go up, they rarely go back down:(

I purchased my 1999 Sport/Air Natique with GT40 PRO BOSS, no rack and analogue gauges (all pluses for me), custom color matched bimini, mooring cover, open bow cover, extra seat for center of walkway or behind drivers seat, at the end of 2016 season for $17,000. It was an amazing deal. They were selling for much more at the time. The owner's original asking price was $25,000. He dropped it to $19,999 when I found it on Boat Trader. It was and is in like new condition. It had 124 hr, on it, currently 225 hr. It had a Beautiful tandem axle trailer. It spent it's life in a garage at a second house in a gated community. I did have to make a one way nine hour drive to purchase it.

I would avoid the wood stringer boat, I would only be considering the 98 and a good price in today's market would be $18-19,000 in my opinion and that is in my West Coast market.

Boat #1 is a VEE Drive so ideal for wakeboard but not ideal for skiing. New correct interior will be $4K.

Thanks for the comp. That was my comment to the seller... I cant find another comp for this price. His reply was with a 97 for 30K which I said was just stupid. Prices are def higher, but 8K is a lot higher... and wow you got LOW hours. Good for you!!!

yea. That boat is very nice and a more realistic price, but I'm in MA. The drive might be worth the extra 5K hahah.

I think you would be wise to wait out the high COVID Panic pricing.

Eventually people are going to stop paying 20K for a 10K boat and the market will come back to reality.

I agree with Paul but you have to admit that Air with it's own bar plus you can sit there in your bare feet has got to be awesome- "Also has barefoot bar." I hope none of the Coors Light cr_p.......
