Hey Fellas!

Im the recent owner of a 1985 Ski Nautique. The key switch that came with the boat was crusty and the key was actually seized.
I removed the switch and got a direct replacement from Oreilly's. I thought it was odd that I found a perfect replacement from a local auto parts store. I got home and wired it back and relized that i couldnt kill power from battery to the boat. The switch is only 2 positions (run and start). Do i need to replace it with a 4 position switch (off-acc-run-start)? or a 3 position and rely on switch panel for the rest (off-run-start)?

Also, once I get the correct switch how do I wire it?

thanks all!

Tyler

3-position is what was used originally. 4-position can be used (no need to connect anything to the accy).

Click on the link below for a 3 position switch from SkiDim

http://skidim.com/ignition-switch-3-position-terminal.html" rel="nofollow - link

You can wire it per the TRB diagram below

Red to the Batt terminal on the switch

Purple to the Ignition terminal on the switch

Yellow/Red to the Start terminal on the switch

You could also buy a 4 position and wire whatever you want to the accessory terminal or leave it unused Wink
