I was fortunate enough to spend a few days at La Ropa beach in Zihuat last week.  Checked in at dark woke up the next morning to find a 1989 Ski Nautique moored about 50 yards out in the bay.  Grey hull with Teal gel.  Looked ok from where I was sitting so i swam out for closer inspection.  What i saw was quite surprising!  Only ne seat was somewhat intact but not for the driver-he sat on a pail with a make shift cushion.  The gas tank was gone so a 5 gallon jug with a hose for supply sat near the port side of the motor cover-which itself was just a pile of fiberglass with numerous cracks and holes. The swim platform had about three boards remaining.  Only thing left on the dash was the key switch and a very loose helm.  Windshield was there but sketchy.  The floor was soft everywhere.  I did ask for a ride and Umberto was thrilled!  I even drove for a bit!  It was the absolute worst kept boat I have ever seen that was still working.  Pulled para sails, tubes, and water weenies all day!  I have photos I would email to anyone if someone wants to upload them.  I never saw it the next three days but there were 3 more late 80's CC's that were in better shape and were busy pulling water sports.  They all had a wonderful familiar sound that could be heard while on the beach.

Nice.
And people laughed at me when I ran the '71 Mustang from a bucket and 5 gallon gas can...

Here are some of Bill's pictures showing some of what he described.

I really don't see what he's talking about other than it seems like the driver's seat is a little on the tall side but it sure is bringing a smile to his face Wink.

Here's another one, I think I found the driver's seat

Could use an interior I suppose. Removing the gas tank and running the can frees up some space, while putting the weight where it should be ;-)

Goes to show these boats are beasts that can take some serious pounding before they give in!
Makes me confident that my redneck repair is gonna outlast me... Approve

Thanks Keno!  Send me the bill.

We did have a great time!  Nice place to visit.  The gas can idea serves multiple purposes I believe---No one can siphon the gas out at night because they take it with them to fill for the next day and the gas is cheaper on land than sea!  To Kristof's point---I was thinking of a stringer job for my 78 but after seeing and stepping on that floor I realized mine has many years left!  Wink
