So the lids for the battery and cooler on my 84 ski Nautique 2001 needed to be redone. The wood is basically rotten. I have caught two nice new pieces of three-quarter inch plywood and they fit in the old aluminum frames very nicely. I think the battery lid is the original and the cooler lid has been replaced at least once. I’ve got my wood cut and I’m looking for some turf. I could also use one more aluminum frame, one has a couple of bites/nicks out of it somehow. Once I found the turf, what’s the best way to glue it to the plywood?

It has been since the mid 80’s when I redid my 1978 Nautique but I put a coat of fiberglass over the wood to help avoid rot and then bought some carpet glue at Home Depot and glued the carpet on.  It was still there when we sold it with another 400 hours on the boat meter and 5 years of use.

Treat with some liquid penetrating epoxy first.
