Abby's first water skiing competition ever was last week at the
Adaptive National. She competed in trick as an MP3 and set a new record
at 900 points. Although I know she was holding back with that score it
earned her the record, gold medal, and a position on Team USA for the 23
Worlds that will be in Elk Grove CA.
Abby currently resides in AZ where she attends the University of Arizona
on a full ride scholarship playing basketball. She has been asked to
compete in Track and Field events also. But Abby realizes that spreading
herself to thin with all of her athletic ability would really affect
her grades while she is working on becoming a nurse. Abby started skiing
after she became paralyzed in 7 th grade with a group named Ability
First Sports out of Chico CA.
Abby has spent a lot of time behind my boat as a slalom skier at our
high altitude lakes and only tried trick skiing at the end of the 21
season. She loved trick and has continued with it. Her coaches former
Olympic Champion and coach Matt Oberholtz, current world record holder
Conner along with Derrick and Carrie have all played a tremendous roll
in her success. Abby knows no limits because of these coaches and her
Dad. Abby is originally from Susanville CA and still spends her summers
there. Abby's basketball coaches at the UofA allowed her time off of
practice to travel to the Adaptive Nationals. Wish Abby and the UofA
basketball team good luck this season and cheer her on at the 2023 World
Games. Sorry this is the only picture I could load.
