Ok, I bought a used correct craft trailer for my 78 Martinique from Greg from eagle river Wisconsin. Pretty sure he's on here. Going through it, I was hoping the id label on it would tell me what number trailer it was. Well the label didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. All it shows was that it was a trailer. And made by correct craft. The rest of the important information like trailer ID were gone. I'll need to remember how to post pics on this site again. Man this site is rudimentary with posting pics ;) So what is the best way to tell a #2 from a #3 trailer? Length? Pretty sure it's a #3. It's not a deluxe, and has no brakes, yet... Redoing the bunks after a paint job on it, trying to determine whether to carpet the bunks before installing the hardware to bolt the new wood down or whatever way? I think you'd almost have to start at the front, put a bolt on just enough to get the nylock nut on it, then with back, using the existing bolt holes to locate where to drill the through hole. Work to the back of the trailer and the remove the bunks, countersink the hikes using hex head cap screws and washers ( zinced hardware to be used with new style treated lumber ( 45° angle cut on the 2x4) . Then once all set, then cover with the new bunk carpeting after reattaching just enough to get the nuts started and then staple the carpet with either SS or Monel or galvanized?? Just barely under the bottom side, and with an the way back. Once the carpet is stapled, then tighten the bunks down? Sounds about right, or is there an easier way? Will the washered HHCS's spin? Once the carpet is on there no way to access the bolt heads without cutting the carpet which I do but want to do. Is there a better type of bolt to use? Or do you get the bunks bolted down, then carpet? You can't really get underneath to tuck the carpet under the board and on top of the frame. But do they need to be tucked under at all? Thanks,. This past
summer I replace the bunks carpet on my trailer. I did not loosen the bolt the
rails. I just cut to size after I staple them on as I went. Completely covering
the bunk wood that you can see along the railing. Tucking the carpet sounds great between the
railing and the bunks but in my opinion, I wouldn’t do that due to the complexity
you are describing. and trailer being used all the time. The carpet should last
a long time even if you ran the boat up on the trailer like I do. |

Originally they used carriage bolts. Wood was attached to trailer then carpeted. I'd love to add pictures, but there's no icons to add them like the"adding pictures to posts" thread shows how to do it. It seems there's plenty of others that cannot add pictures from a phone I use an android, fwiw. I never recall this being an issue before, but then again it's been a few years since I posted regularly. Regarding the carpet and not tucking under the bunks, that makes sense. No need to. Trailer is 223" overall in length just over 18.5'. Thanks Adam T! That just confirms that mine has to be a #3. Next question for all of you with these CC trailers, how far back from the front of the trailer is the bow stop? Mine was moved a few times and I'm certain where it was was not where it needs to be.
