Helping a buddy on his 82 Mustang.
He needed a new flame arrestor so I mailed him my spare, but now he's concerned that it might block the cover from closing cause he had a low profile one. It's still in storage, so he can't check.

Do Mustang covers have less clearance than a Nautique?

The box itself is almost assuredly the same- and that same box was used from ‘70 through ‘82 on several models including both the 16’5” (skier/mustang/ski tique) and 18’9” 2001. It’s possible that there are slight variations in floor vs engine mount height due to various model, stringer, cradle variations etc… but the long and the short of it is that no stock engine (302/351w/305/350) should have been so tight on clearance that a “low profile” (presumably meaning 2” tall?) arrestor was needed. Many had 3-4” tall arrestors.
