Put all new skins on (well, had someone else do it) and when removed the sides (coaming?) on each screw there was a 'dab' of what seemed like hot glue.

I assume this was there to stop the nut from backing off.

On the re-install, should i attempt to do the same using a hot glue gun?

I'm not sure I'd say anything was necessary, but a dab of RTV would do the same thing as the hot glue and be easier to do.

I agree the hot glue gun didn't seem like a great task to take on (kind of messy and you'd need to protect the carpet on the sides).

I'll put something on them - don't want them rattling off - they held fast since '97 !
