As I was running through all the GT40 threads about 'no-start' one of the threads mentioned the fuse in the battery box and that has caused problems in the past.

Well - that MAY have been my issue with no power to the fuel pumps when trying to start this year.  I did a lot of work to the boat over the winter - one of which was to replace the batter terminals and crimp ends - and I did remove/clean/check that black fuse - everything WAS checking out fine - I even followed it to the connection right next to the engine where it turns from RED to purple to confirm I had continuity from the battery to that point.

In any case, that thread which I can not find via search or browser history mentioned there was a modification that could be done to remove that fuse (or perhaps it was to modify it so it isn't an issue - I',m not sure).

So - I'm looking for a pointer to that thread.

Thanks

So have you solved your issue with pump power or are you still figuring things out

Yes - thank you.
And yes - I do believe the issue was the 50A fuse holder itself.  Fuse was not tripped (as noted in the link above that maybe 8G wire would have melted).   After tracing - taking it apart - cleaning it - tuned the switch and heard the prime cycle - which is what I was missing.

It seemed that they wanted to assure the module had power and ran that line - who the hell knows why. and why switch from RED to PURPLE?  That confused me while tracing - I had to use a scope camera to follow the wire.

I'll make that mod next year - but I'll do it BEFORE the boat is put to sleep for the winter - so I know it works and the kids are not loosing ski time (ya - I only drive the boat).k

Glad it's fixed

You probably have a couple of extra relays now......but that's always a good thing Wink
