Local mechanic said the engine is shot and needs replaced. Anyone know where to find a used fuel injected engine? Boat is in great shape if someone is interested in buying a boat without an engine. Replies: Posted By: MrMcD Date Posted: June-29-2024 at 7:00pm Blowing a head gasket is not fatal to the engine normally.  They usually do not just blow they fail after an overheat.  Normally a new head gasket fixes the issue.   Busy shops always say you need a new engine because actual diagnostic time and expertise chews into their profits while installing a new engine eliminates the diagnostic phase and makes more money.  I would check with another shop and it does not have to be a Marine specialty shop.  The 351W Ford is the same as old Ford Trucks ran.  Easy to work on.
