I bought the 96 nautique open bow from Nautique Jeff that he has listed for sale.
The sale included everything minus the engine and transmission.
I spoke with Sandra the owner of CS Marine in New Jersey and the remaining interior items are getting shipped to me.

First off, Jeff. Solid guy who stepped up and made a good deal a better deal by trailering the boat from North Carolina to Orlando. Obviously Jeffs a busy guy and had a reason to travel to Orlando but trailering the boat down as something he didn't need to do.

It gets better, 0400 the 21st en route to the er i call Jeff and leave a message, on the way to the hospital, hold off. Later that day from the hospital we text back and forth. Released on the next day and back home by 2030 hrs and Jeff says he'll come down monday with the boat.

So he put his business on hold over the weekend and delivered the boat in Orlando that monday.
Honest, straight to the point, clearly attached to these boats and his work, Jeff (Nautique Jeff) is a solid stand up guy that i wouldn't hesitate to do business with or reccomend him to my family, friends, and the members across 3 boating sites I belong to.

More to the point, I spoke with Sandra over the phone and upon hearing I was taking on the 96 nautique project from Jeff she offered to crate up and ship the remaining interior parts to me.
The combing pads are long and in order to help save on shipping she offered to make paper templates of them. Sandra has gone over and above helping me with this project and the rest of this story will have to wait until i speak with her again to forward the shipping costs.
Suffice to say Sandra turned the great deal that Jeff made me into an incredible deal.

Again, across 3 boating websites I will reccomend to all members that i wouldn't hesitate to do business with Sandra (C S Marine in New Jersey) as well as reccomend her to my family and friends.


I could go on about Jeff and Sandra both as to how they act professionaly as well as to the personality traits i observed while meeting and talking with them.
I can't thank enough for their time and help afforded to me connection with this project by both Jeff and Sandra.

We all know who Jeff is and the great work he does restoring these ski boats.Please consider calling Sandra at C S Marine for licsensed nautique upholstery as well as any upholstery needs you may have in any boat.

Pics in a couple days, parts cleaned, carpet pulled off and out to the bow eye (saving for patterns) including the carpet on the underneath of the bow rider. Who puts carpet there?

One thing you should never do again is ship your old perfectly good carburetor to a guy in New Hampshire, saying you'll never need it again.

I kinda figure that guy would send it back to you if you want/need it Wink

Yes johnny, clearly there is a problem.
Keno, nope that carb is for whatever that guy wants to do with it. Anything else would be like an indian giver.
Quick fuel keeps coming up, i don't know what causes the issues but i really want to install a squeeze pump like on an outboard.

The 84 donor engine transmission with 770 hours was converted to electric ignition.

my guess it's strong, but with how old gas ? How out of adjustment/clogged carb, how out of timing and in need of plugs wires cap and rotor, not charging and with an old battery on a charger hell, maybe a new conversion kit.

It sounded good and revved up very fast, smooth, like a healthy engine, hopefully a freshen up, flex plate coat of corporate blue and there will be the happy.

Only thing that looks cut is the wire on the ballast when it was converted.

Firsr keno question is; are the front mounts or front pedestals different from 84 to 96 ?

I measured, it looks good except - the stringers are farther apart on the 96 than the 84 BUT ;
The engine mounts IN the cradle on the 96 and the engine mounts ON the cradle on the 84.

Even tho the bolt holes line up on both cradles, the front mounts on the donor would have to slide in to fit leaving less side to side for alignment up front.

I'll post a few pics of that tomorrow.

Your question on the front mounts......the brackets that bolt to the engine are different heights because of the change in mounting angle.

Some people not named me have said they thought there was enough adjustment to make up for the height difference. One of them would have to tell you if  they did it and it worked.  Wink

PCM probably wanted the adjustment in about the mid range to leave plenty of room to go up or down

PCM part numbers for the engine mounting bracket 
R090001 for the 1 to 1 transmission applications, R090144 for 1.23 applications

Were you planning on the 84 engine and transmission going in the 96 or just the engine and finding a 1.23 transmission? Or maybe no real plan yet from the sounds of  your other thread where you're selling stuff?

Remember that the 96 engine is normal rotation and the 84 is  reverse rotation.

Yes, plan is 1984 pcm and borg warner.
Build another gantry pull engine trans
hook up to 96 and lower engine trans into place to see whats what.

Brackets ? Are you talking the cast part with trunion or the pedestal.

Maybe i should go outside and take some pics so you can set me straight.

Edit in ; yes i see the height difference on the mounts thank you. Pedestal looks the same, problem is pedestal overhang/ overall width. Unless i glossed over and missed 2 different pedestals, nothing that cant be remedied. Unless cost for new is way over the rainbow.

Elevation bottom to pedestal mount surface (cradle); 84, 6 front, 5 1/2 rear
                                                                                               96, 5 front, 4 1/2 rear.
Width of cradle; 84, 24 inches but engine is on top of cradle and pedestals hang over 5/8 each side.
Width of cradle; 96, 30 inches but engine is inside cradle on angle who's width is 24 1/2 at best.
Stringer width on 84 is 21 1/2 which is centerline the vertical mounting bolts (lags on the 84 into the stringers.
It's close and most likely being overthought again again.

The engine mount width is essentially the same between the 2 stringer/cradle configurations, which was on purpose. (Ford) powertrains interchange without a problem. Rear mount height should be matched to the transmission being used but cradle will accomodate either set up.

Thanks for the kind words, wayoutthere!  I am really glad that boat is going to get another life.  I had to go to Orlando anyway to pick up a trailer that Ram-Lin refurbished for me, so pulling it down with me was no trouble.  Keep us posted on the progress!!

Out there drippin, 3 days now. I like this hull so i'm moving forward and starting to work up a plan.

start by cleanly cutting out the battery box / cooler assembly so it can be reused.
probobly have to cut a rectangle hatch out of the floor under the observer seat and forward a bit, if needed for foam removal.
(it's some kind of cored panel but i don't know how far forward it goes) and re use it.

i layed out the floor under the gas tank and rear seat, those areas plus a few inches either side will stay intact. Everywhere else between the back seat and tank
and from the tank to transom will come out for foam removal and access to the thru hull nut and bolts that always leak.
those removed sections will not go back in.

the floor from the back seat to the front floor cored/panel will come out for foam removal, i'm hoping it will give me enough room to de foam.
this area is approx 22 inches by 58 inches so 1 sheet of airex core cell 3/4 will cover the rebuild.

I would prefer to not cut it open but the boat is disassembled now.
If anybody has been inside of a 96 nautique and can shed some light on an approach to cutting i'd appreciate the info.
I can see the outboard stringer by looking down into the air box hopefully that will help with layout and cutting which will go slow so the
composite stringers don't get wacked

Plans are evolving right now and theres not much of a rush. For example the 1984 nautique is staying put and the 96 is getting de-foamed. Yep 2 ski boats 2 rebuilds. Keep an out for a donor engine and trans boat.

Today the 84 got powerwashed in the bilge and the cushions have been disassembled and inside the house all week, they are for sure dry and ready to get bagged up and stored in the boat with the boat covered.

my powerwasher died and i picked up the tiny one from lowes, it's compact light and it made fast work de greasing the bilge. For 89 bucks and a 30 day return it's worth a try if you need one and don't have the room for or want to spend big bucks. Hope it lasts 8 years like the sunjo did

Well, looks like the 96 is headed to that big waterski lake in the sky. It's full of water front to back and from the bottom all the way up to the floor.
at first i figured defoam it but the stringers are full of water too and in some spots very soft. ( see videos )
the boat is structurally dependant on the foam the foams soaked and the stringers are only a few layers thick and flimsy.

I almost caved in a few months ago and considered dropping 10 - 15 grand on a boat so i could hit the water now. Glad i didn't but i can offer some advice;

If your looking for a ski boat go to the brochure section get the boats weight, call the trailer manufacturer get it's weight tell the seller i'll meet you at the scales and if it passes muster we'll go for a sea trial.
second, if you want a surf boat, save yourself 300 grand and buy a used ski boat, i mean they may as well fill them up with water at the factory.

called uhaul and cancelled the Ubox being dropped off at the upholstery shop tomorrow to have everything sent back to me.
I'll have to call sandra in the morning and apologize, even with a new set of free skins she was sending me, along with the rest of the interoor parts it's just too much to gut and bring that boat back.

the hull is great, the assembly as usual, stringers, foam and floor are what you'd expect, and heck i figured since roller boogie, disco and cocaine was a thing of the past and the guys at the factory aren't all hopped up on coke conga lining on roller slates around the shop floor hook shottin globs of over saturated chopped strand mat into the boat and callin it good were ever it landed ike they did on that 79 i had i figured assembly might be better this time but nope, not to be.
.dam it, I really wanted a bowrider ski boat.

This is your chance to make a boat exactly how you want it,

Strip it down to the hull and go at it.

Once upon a time you needed an intervention with the 79 project to help get that finished.

I'd kick back for a day or 2, think about things and call this a Golden Opportunity staring you right in the face.  Wink

You'll have that bowrider ski boat done your way.

I'll go as far as laying out the stringers so we all know where they are located in case someone wants to fix their boat.

Cutting out most of the floor will maybe help that frog get out of it's pond, poor thing all stuck in that moldy waterlogged mess.

Boy do i have a once upon a time there was a boat builder story,
name of the company was just till the check clears craft and there are stories from the plant floor entered into a ledger and those stories and that ledger have been handed down to new employees as time magically went by.
Some day maybe i'll read a story or two here on the boards.

Look at that, you're softening up a little already, next thing you know you'll be popping the top cap off to show how good or badly they installed that at the factory.

At that point, you're in trouble because you'll say "now  I can do the stringers and floor better than they did"

Good luck on the project and take your normal big bunch of pictures.  Wink

PS......here's something you told a guy on one of those other websites

A lot of projects never get finished or sold off or hit the dump, at times it might be overwhelming. this is a small boat, not a big material list to rebuild and easy all around job just takes some time but the end result is a huge payoff so stick with it.

 Was not aware that our boats are structurally dependent on the foam. I thought that the composite stringers was the skeleton for integrity and the foam was just for flotation.  Also :  if the floor is composite -  what causes floor to flex like in the video ?  Do your stingers flex as well ?

I'll eat my words and clear this up best i can.
The wide portion of the outbaord stringer are only a few layers thick and it flexes in the video.
When i cut the rest of the floor out and remove the foam it should be easier to see that.
The inner stringers are for sure going to be pretty strong.

The front part of the floor is or looks like 1 inch core cell wirh some fiberglass on it.
I'll add a picture.
They drilled and filled the front floor, hence all the voids and gallons of standing water.

The rear floor is foam filled sanded( nowhere near flat) and covered with fiberglass

The foam is really for NVH but it is totally relied on structurally for the floor, not the whole boat.

It's a safe bet the hull and deck are laid up real good and are strong on there own.
The hull would probably work without stringers and floors but not that great.

My bet and who cares would be theres a void by a bad foam pour in the stringers before assembly which allowed the flex or the water froze, expanded and popped the glass off the foam allowing flex and more room for more water.

Again, i'll eat my words but not about assembly, it's where it all goes down hill.

Which wraps this up;
When i bought this boat it was without the upper sections of the interior parts and upholstery and I had somewhat of a plan as to the finish. It was luck of the draw i called jeff and he again advised me to call sandra about those pieces.
Theres no way this boat could come back to original nick without a very large sum of money.

Second, theres no way i could install the complete set of new skins sandra so generously offered me at the level they should be fitted. The fiberglass and roto molded bottom parts of the interior that were covered in carpet and came with the boat are rough to say the least, gel and sea dek would be an easier fix than carpet and upholstery which i suck at and would screw it all up.

Is the whole thing a bust i don't know but it's disappointing to find it so full of water.
Every screw and bolt hole into the stringers floor and transom must've ran like niagra falls.

There is no story or reason to justify it being waterlooged period.
It was sunk, nope the brochure brags about superior construction
It was a hot tub, nope the brochure brags about superior design and construction methods that are above industry standards.
It was abandoned and uncovered in a field for 20 years, nope these boats were made from ame 5000 resin WOW !!!! and the brochure goes on about the genious and legacy from which these boats have spawn.

Update on both boats today, start with the 84. Ups dropped off the steel i ordered to make new load/launch uprights because, well look at the pictures. Ups also dropped off all the paperwork for the 84 in a big correct craft envelope, good news.

Ups came around 1900 after i got done working on the 96 and i got good news for all of us about that. I found a note in a ziplock bag stuffed in void under the driver side floor. I'lll post a picture of it later along with pictures of the stringers and floor after some foam chipping.

Some foam chipping in between rain as hurricane somebody or other is approaching.
This is low on the list but i wanted to clear up on the stringers with some pictures.
The wide part of the outboard stringer that flexes has a sawzall blade resting on it
The narrow part of the outboard stringer is pretty tough.
The inner to outer srringer tie-ins have some flex as well.
The front floor will have to be cut out but for now you can see how it was constructed from 1 inch foam sheet cut in strips (why ? Who the F knows) the hole in the drivers floor with the sawzall blade sticking up was the hole drilled in the video. How water got there and the void was dry as far as i can see into it is any body's guess but 100 percent the foam under it will be soaked.
Also there is a sawzall blade and an awl pointing at a gap in the floor that they filled with a tube of silicone, setting industry standards i'll tell ya. And how does foam not touch the bottom in the rear under the gas tank, frickin aqua fir down there.

Like mentioned earlier, i have good news for all of us. There was a note in a ziplock bag located in the void under the drivers side floor. I'll read it aloud and then you'll see how it's such good news. It reads;

This Boat Holds Special Reverance to all who assembled her, for as the story goes,,,

Once Upon a Time,
The old man walked onto the shop floor and called the men to gather.

While placing a hand upon the deck of this creation of his, a tear ran from his eye and he spoke of his pride for his men & their work.

Once the old man left the men to their duties they choked back emotions and continued assembly of this boat.

Since the men were choked up, they could not Correctly finish their task.

Be it known then that this is the only waterlogged hull and that therefore all the other boats are perfectly fine & not blown full of industry leading technology like a whole tube of silicone to fill a gap in the floor.

That is a great story told by pictures and script!!       LOL  Seriously the photos are very interesting and do explain some things.  I had a 96 ski many moons ago and it had lamination issues at a young age.  Soft spots in a few areas and the boat always seemed heavy on the water.  Speed was never an issue but the wake was huge compared to my brothers 97 (I know its a bit different build).  

Cant wait to follow and see this project get fixed.....ya know ya wanna....

7 households lost power at 1600 hrs yesterday because a certain neighbor behind me can't maintain their property. I have offered to use my truck tools time and money along with the access i have thru the yard to cut back clean up and remove the waste, all I ever hear is how rhe plants will get stressed.
So starting on monday i will begin forging a new relationship with code enforcement by stopping by the office 3 or 4 times a week to complain about it and several other mouthy nosey neighbors who have trees and sheds inside the pud&e and without permits.

You are all invited to come on down and pick up the NINE bags of waterlogged foam scraped out of the 96 nautique., and tell me it doesn't weigh over 500 pounds.

That of course does not include the portion of the airbox that is foam filled or the stringers that water ran out of when i drilled drain holes in them.
There are 8 more holes to drill and i'll try to film them so you can see how bad they are waterlogged.

Plan is simple, cut the stringer tops off. Block up the boat, square it up and water level it side to side so the stringers can be ground down even/level by 1 full inch.

Most likely refoam the stringers and cap with 2 layers of 1208 and pull a mold.
The wide portion will stay wide as that is were every one jumps in the boat.

The stringers then get cut out of the 96 and get fit into the 84, maybe have to narrow the width
(see blue tape)
whatever happens i will have a stringer mold that will fit the NWZ hulls and at the least will know how to modify them to fit in the 01 hulls.

The 96 stringers are 26 inches apart
The 84 stringers are 21 1/2 inches apart the tie ins between the inner and outer stringers may need to shortened to fit (see blue tape)

In either case neither boat WILL NOT have foam filled floors and both will be fiberglass srringers not filled with foam.
3/4 inch, 6 pound corecell wrapped in 2 layers of 1208 or 1708 will bring that 1 inch back up to final elevation in the 96. The 84 will get the same floor to it's proper elevation.

BUYER BEWARE these things are sponges. Pull an engine mount lag and a transom or floor screw and stick a q tip in it. take it to the scales.

There was no dry foam anywhere and the hole i drilled by the driver seat i thought was gonna pop the fuse or shock me, it poured out of the tie in stringer.

I'll photo and measure the truck as well as post miles and weight slips after the dump on wednesday. Monday i got lawn and power washing in the morning and titles in the afternoon tuesday i got an appointment at 1400 and will be elbows and ***************s until that time.

I got video of the foam way up under the open bow completely saturated and running out.
I can pick the tongue up now that's how bad. I'll post the vid if theres any doubters.

On another note or two,
the last 3 days have been busy and i didn't find out until today how bad the hurricane was and how hard some states were hit and that there was loss of life.

Second, i wanna hear the constructive criticism or regular criticism concerning both rebuilds before either goes too far utilitarian and no puff. When i read slalom tractor i think 70's/80's range rovers before they went all poofy and started getting stuck on wet pavement.

Not much to add, but I do sympathize with your project. I can’t say that I’m surprised that the foam is wet, it seems inevitable- closed cell or not.

I find these pics of the composite structure fascinating, big thanks for sharing. I don’t recall anyone digging in quite so deep and thoroughly before (and documenting it). I’m sure I’ll think of more, but a few questions while you’re in there poking around:

How thick is the layup of the ICS? Is it different on the mains vs secondary structures?

I assume there are backing plates on the inside of the main stringers for the engine cradle to bolt to?

Whats the inside of the stringer system faces look like now that you’ve cut some of the tops off? Gel covered? I would have guessed they were laid up on a male mold.

Now that the foam is out, I assume the spray relief pockets are visible on the inside? I can’t really make them out in the pics.

the only layer count +/- i can give at this point would be the hollowed out portion of the outer stringers and tie-ins, the wide parts and that would be (edit, 2-3 layers) of biax material, its not very strong because of the span, and not very consistent in that area.
The narrow portions forward and rear sections of the outboard stringers are strong, so are the engine stringers, i'll have a thickness once they are cut.

My guess is a male mold too but there is no gel inside or outside. All the stringers ars laid up in a biax material. In fact so is the hull and deck.

Engine stringers are modified with 1/4 inch aluminum and the engine cradle is lagged into the sides and down thru the top. Yep lagged, no thru bolts. Even lags on the transom for hardware that is covered by foam/floor.
Yes, the spray relief pockets and hullside reliefs are all visible and thus far the layup looks good.
Only problem is it looks like the stringers have a flange on the hull so it's a lap joint instead of a "L" or 90 degree bonded to the hull. That means foam could have squeezed in there like it did between the floor and top of the stringers. Have a better picture when all the foam is out and it'll photograph better too.

Right now i bought a 5 pack of sawzall blades, the trailer windshield etc should get mu money back but i can't relax at night unless i'm q tippin fiberglass dust outta my ears so we'll try and make something from this hull.

Another intact 01 or pre 01 boat is the ticket to completing the snob, no rush, 1 will pop up and be the hardware, interior and engine donor, the hull will be a bar and grill

When they laid up the stringers or afterwards a piece of 1/4 inch aluminum plate got boded to the inside of the stringers were the engine goes, maybe in the back too were the angle is lagged to the stringers for the rear hatch and tank support.

I'm moving not sure when so focus is on prep for travel and winterize, hence cut it open get the water out and service the bearings.

Yep, pretty close to those thickness.

couple pictures of the rear were the gas tank can be seen, in the outlined area, the stringers have a flange that crosses all the way from the inboard stringer to the hull side. From the inside it looks like the hull would have a 1/2 inch step but it doesn't.

Another outlined picture of the out board stringer up fron has an elevation change.
That's were they put the floor pan.

My idea is to pull a mold of the stringers and also make a floor pan template/mold.

Think i got dealing with the hard parts of the stringers front and rear, the tough to get at or tough to get out sections so a diy'r could fix his waterlogged maloon special by keeping short sections of existing stringers intact (but clean out the wet foam) and cut in the 50% of stringers section that is easy to get to and easy to get out then tab in a floor pan to finish it off.

Boom, no foam filled rebuild it original waterlogged mess like the factory does.
Same for the 84 hull, well maybe not theres not a problem but theres a problem.
I'll start a seperate thread.

Meantime what your looking at is, aaggh who am i kidding who knows what it is, foam filled
block with a pvc pipe that starts up front by the bow eye behind a dam and dump into the airbox by the front of the stringers. It dumps all that water into the voids around the drivers seat and no doubt is what filled up the empty cavity under the driver se

Anyway, that chunk of foam up there under the bowrider i'd bet weighs 200 pounds.
It's gonna have to wait, crawling up there isn't topping the list and really the deck should come off.

I was in there pulling off 20 pounds of sound deadoning material from the hull sides, so i'll repeat it's a convertible, it's a ski boat, the whole point is to feel hear and smell everything that's going on. you sit next to v8 designed in the sixties. If you want nvh go buy a ***************ing bentley.

I flushed out the exhaust and with some plumbing caps/couplers installed and sealed off the muffler for winter storage and dipping the boat in to get it on the trailer straight which it does not do, i had to ratchet strap it into position while the boat was just floating.
yay! Something else needs fixed!

Also peeled off the decals and rubber non slip with plastic razor blades ( no damage)
Wow it hasn't been cleaned yet but what an improvement.
Since i'm ski nautiques biggest fan now when i transport it i can tell people its a mastercraft or somethng is why it's all waterlogged and had to get cut open

In the process of that one of the plastic hinges broke (screwdriver points to hinge) and need a replacement or do i just pick up stainless ? No gas shocky things will be going back in the boat at all ever, period.

New hubs tires and spares, extra hub parts etc etc too.
All cleaned repacked etc etc across both trailers, fingers crossed i won't have to call highway tire tow and robbery. Did i mention highway tire tow and robbery already, maybe i should read my own thread.

Flat tire on 40 E leaving lake havasu tri axel 30 foot scarab. It took hours and they clipped me.
It was in good shape but the heat and dry out there really takes it's toll.
Is what really happened.

The take care of the trailer lesson i learned 40 years ago so 2010 in havasu was unexpected.

Here in my part of florida we have family owned business ferguson's, .there motto is if we don't have it we're both in trouble. Counting the 2 ski boats in the yard now makes 7 trailers worth of parts from them over the last 10 years. Great guys, no pc in there i'll tell ya, like a corner bar in the 80's

Walk in buy some hubs some extra parts tell some jokes and the havasu flat tire memory get's embellished via their motto and my b.s.. " if you don't maintain your trailer with parts from fergusons, it's your fault when you have to call highway tire tow and robbery"

Level of difficulty 2 of 10, no fumes no burning skin. Works almost right away.
It didn't do much with the decals and did nothing to the pinstripes.
I used more than needed to keep it wet but still used less than 1/2 a 2 qt bucket.

Anybody have a product that removes pinstripes letters and decals i would appreciate it.
They fell off the snob, on the 01, they are like iron.

The 3m eraser wheel was in the top 10 things i ever spent money on, 53 bucks, more than 1/2 of it left. Worked as advertised. Thanks for reccomending it.

Before i bought tho i tried to whack it with some 1000 grit on the grinder as seen port side right below the teak foot step. Looks like the gel will come back.

These spider cracks( just on the rear deck and rear sides under the decals) are the only damage the boat has, (don't know if that is an 01 flaw or what) very minor dock rash will buff out, even the bottom is in great shape.

If that's the timing pointer and the orange paint which became visible while cleaning it up and is on 6, i got that at 600 rpm, it was off, retarded.
If there was a rear sight that would be great but i think it's there.
Fresh gas i believe is what made the difference.

The multimeter is working but also jumping up/down but i can adjustvthe idle screw so it bounces 590-620 for timing and 630-660 on idle. Cause ?

The idle air screws are 2 turns but who knows ! No big change observed
The vacuum gauge is hooked to the port on the spacer and there is new rubber caps on the carb.
The vac swings up/down in the late ign timing area but like mentioned i believe it's at 6 @600

When i removed the vac hose from the port 1/2 ounce of gas came out, it didn't do that on the 79, cause ?.

There are 2 videos to upload and come back to edit this post with some notes/observations

A while back stated goals were to send engine and trans off to appropriate shop for rebuild/freshen up but let's not get crazy $$$$.
I think it's a good engine & trans package to do exactly that,
(have to find shop for both in NE Ohio)

It's going to sit so winterize and cyl oil/fog has to be on point even tho next fall it can be run and repeated or turned over and fog repeated.
Will follow directions on fogging oil can and open to other methods to help ensure it stays a good engine.

Gallon and a half of non meth got a whole can of b12 and 3 ounces of stabil dumped in.
Drain carb line and pump or ????

Drain block, exhaust, dump hoses, impellor already out, fill with 50/50 fog cap exhaust outlets.
How about the mufflers, they are plastic, pretty impressed how much quieter than no mufflers on 79.

Check out this fuel water seperator that came off the 84, it's huge and the olive drab mounting bracket makes me think this filter assembly came from the motor pool at good ole fort baxter
