I need the prop whisperer. Just picked up an 89 2001 CB. My fourth '89. 1300 hours, boat is incredibly clean. I have a vibration at low and mid throttle. Came with a OJ 13x16 P2 4 blade. I just pulled it off. Held on with a lock nut, no cotter pin. It had a little side to side movement, as well as a little front to back. Didn't need a puller to get it off. No apparent damage. Motor runs strong but running that prop, could only get 2000-2200 RPM up to about 32MPH. I also have the 14x16 3 blade that supposedly was the original. Thoughts?

I think your speed vs RPM numbers don't really make any sense at all.

You should have about a 100 to 1 ratio of RPM to speed

For example 3000 rpm would be about 30 mph.

So, your tach and speed readings are more than a little questionable Wink

The 14X16 would have been the original prop on your 89,  with the 1.23 to 1 transmission, so if it's in good shape why not put that on and see how the boat runs?

Then you could click on the link below and read about a couple of Acme props that are a good match to that boat
