Noticed on recent outings temp not much above 130. GT40 should run 160. Coming off the water today with some glass left, I ran a few minutes at just less than WOT and as I came off plane saw 150 or so. Tstat or temp sensor? My guess is the former, as it's likely been eons since it's been changed.

Thanks.

So why not take a few more minutes and pop the thermostat cover and take a look at the thermostat?Wink

I think I would shoot it with an IR gun, you would have thermostat temp in 30 seconds.  You can shoot the block, manifold and exhaust just to know how the engine temps are currently.  It very well may be a stuck open thermostat.  IR guns are cheap now and a very nice tool for many engine issues.   You can shoot individual exhaust ports while running if you are looking for dead cylinders or in case of lean burn you find hot cylinders.  Works on your trailer to check wheel bearing and brake temps quickly.  Handy tool to help diagnose quickly.

I had a stuck closed thermostat this year. They don’t last forever.
