Does anyone have recommendations for a prop shop that does service and sells new props? Delta Prop, which was a site sponsor and offered members a discount closed last October. I found their service and pricing excellent and we did business with them for years. I was at the Boston Boat Show yesterday and NE Propeller was there, but their prices are much higher. Anyone know of any good shops with decent pricing? |

| With less shops available prices go up. Supply and demand. Same is happening with the Engine Machine Shops. Hope you find a good contact. |

The machine shop I’ve used for years just closed up. Owner retired and had no one lined up for succession plan. My second choice is in about the same situation and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were next. Yeah Bruce, I've been thinking about the same thing since I saw that DP was hanging up their wrench's for good.  I know Nautiquehunter used a couple prop repair places here around Lanier but wasn't satisfied with the work done. Still had vibration issues on his boat so I think he ponied up and bought a new one. Has anyone checked on some of "The Other" forums to see what's out there? I've got a 540 that could use some TLC but not sure if I wanna get a local to fix it. DP always did me right and fixed several props, struts and a rudder. Sad to see them go.------------- "Morfoot; He can ski. Sad, but true. It may be an indictment of this younger generation. Much of the younger workforce wants virtual vs real hands-on. Jobs that don’t require computer use for 90%+ of the time are for the unwashed masses…not for the enlightened. I’ll get off my soapbox now. Accutech did a good job on one of my Acme repairs almost 20 years ago- but they were about 2x the average cost back then. Maybe worth a quote if they’re close though. Several of the smaller repair shops I’ve used have increased their prices in recent years… almost getting to the point where even acmes are barely worth repairing. If anyone has a line on a good shop with reasonable pricing, I’d be interested as well. |

| I just did a dummy quote submission through Nettle to see their pricing- for a 13” 3-blade with minimal bends on all 3 tips (no tears or missing chunks), they quoted $295 + shipping and tax. |

That seems very high when a new prop is only $500, at least they were when I last purchased one 4 years ago. The last prop I had repaired was maybe 8 years ago now, it was about $250 at that time and I was shocked, I was expecting to be under $200. That prop ran fine and very smooth but I lost about 3 mph after the repair so not all repairs get you back to original. That repair was on the 224 Prop that you originally sold me Tim. I loved that prop prior to the damage and repair. Running a 422 now. It is very good but I still liked the 224 better when it was good.
