| Hello, I recently bought a 1992 Supra Impulse with Ford PCM pro-tec. The boat has low hours and in good shape but the carb needed a rebuild, which I had done and tested. Per the PCM manual, I want to check / set initial timing after reinstalling the carb but not sure how to adjust it. The PCM manual says the only adjustment needed on these is setting initial timing, so I presume it can be done. Is there a small clamp on or under the interrupter / "puck" that can be loosened to rotate it like a distributor? Any help is very much appreciated. I searched for this topic on multiple forums and didn't find it. thanks for any info! Doug from NH |

I think you'd be better off asking this question on planetnautique. Just kidding, Jonny Quest made me say that  Just like you're thinking....there's a clamp, you loosen the bolt and turn the puck just like turning a distributor. CW to advance the timing, CCW to retard it. On that engine 18 degrees BTDC at 700 rpm with the knock sensor disconnected, then connect it back up when you're done.

That's OK, I was kinda wondering where you were gonna be running the boat this time of year in NH. I edited the previous post to say 18 degrees at 700 rpm then just connect the knock sensor and the timing adjusts itself automatically after that depending on the computer inputs. | Thanks again, yes I have that same manual. With the boat covered for winter, I'm not able to dig in to see how this is actually adjusted - nuts and bolts. This confirms it all and makes sense - super helpful. I understand these systems don't last forever and the replacement is back to a distributor, but I want to at least make sure it is where it is supposed to be until that day, especially after the carb rebuild.
