Hi all,

Working on getting a long block installed on my 85, so I am trying to fix up a couple things on the 1980 before getting rid of her.

I had got it real hot one time. The risers and manifolds were getting pretty hot, so I pulled them off to see if there were impeller pieces. Thought they were in bad shape, so I put on a better used set of manifolds and risers with new gaskets and bolts.

I am getting a smoke with a burnt smell from the starboard side manifold when I run at higher RPMs. No problems at all at lower RPMs. Seems to be coming from the lower section of the manifold, where it splits into the 4 arms, and just on the starboard side.

Any thoughts.

Thanks

-------------
Brent

When my boat was new I had a similar smell and smoke from the same area. At high rpms the manifolds get very hot right off the heads and the paint was burning off the manifolds in that area. Eventually it stopped after about one season of use. If there is any paint or dirt or grease from a$$embly that may be the cause. No explanation for only one side though.
