Sorry... I can't help with your tune-up questions - I'm learning the ropes myself, but I wondered if you have experienced the same occa$$ional start-up problem I have. It sounds as if you have the same engine set-up in your '94 as I have in my '95.

Kind of like when you went to a party in high school, go away now, see ya, come back when you can't stay so long!

Change oil and filter
Check plugs; Replace if pitted or burned
Check wires; Replace if stiff or damaged ends
Clean spark arrestor
Check belt tension
Check fuel water separator
Replace fuel filter
Check timing
Check idle speed
Check trans oil
Check prop shaft packing
Check battery water level
Check all hose clamps
Check all electrical connections
Check and clean the water strainer
Grease trailer wheel bearings
Check trailer brake fluid
And most importantly, Wax the hull; Nothing runs better than a shiny boat.

Youre correct- you would need a gun to check your timing. Might not be worthwhile unless you suspect you have a timing problem though- I dont believe you can adjust the base timing with the Protec.
