My family and I traveled from Tn. to League City Tx.(just south of Houston) on Friday. We've been having a great time. At 2:00 am this morning my wife woke me up and said that my father in law's Volvo and my brother in law's BMW had just been stolen from the driveway. After having a few to many my brother in law and his girlfriend were asleep on the couch. Apparently the theif or thieves came IN THE HOUSE. They grabbed the keys off of the bar which was 3 ft. from my sleeping brother in law and his girlfriend. Mud on the carpet confirmed how close they actually had been to them. They stole my wife's wallet, everyone's cell phones and cash. After the police arrived we gave the licence plate #s and types of vehicles. Within minutes the officer in the house recieved a radio call that the BMW was parked on the next street over. My brother in law got in the patrol car w/ the officer and they rode over there. He had a spare key and he drove it back to the house, followed by the police. When they got back for some reason we decided to look in the trunk. When we opened the trunk there were 2 of our cell phones my wife's wallet. In addition to those were items from other houses. Cell phones, pills, a security badge from a local hospital, etc. About 20 min. later the Volvo was found four houses down parked on the street. Upon inspection of the trunk we found a case of Slimfast, a case of Coke Zero, a pair of binoculars, a pellet pistol, more cell phones and other random stuff. We had to inventory everything in the driveway, in the rain, w/ the police. All in all we are out of about $400.00 in cash, 2 debit cards and my bro in law's, girlfriend's purse. We made out pretty well considering it was an actual home invasion. We just feel blessed that no one was hurt.

While reading that, I thought your brother in-law was going to get a DWI for driving the car back.

We thought the same. The cops gave him some flak.

I was waiting for the punch line. That's ballsy to come into the house within a few feet of some people sleeping to grab the keys. Whoever could do that is not right. Probably best that they did not wake up. No telling what some crazy would be capable of.

Glad to hear that everyone is ok.

Merry Christmas.

Tate, Glad you're OK and got most back. That kind of things sucks. I'm only 6 miles away from you in Friendswood. Merry Christmas!

That's crazy. There's a show on Discovery called "It takes a Thief" where they convince people to have there home broken into on hidden camera to see how vulnerable they really are. Great show to check out and learn from. It's creepy that it can happen in real life so easily. Glad it didn't turn out any worse. Could have been REALLY bad.
