Anyone here a nsacar fan besides me. Well have some work to go do before the race so time to log off.

If so who's your favorite driver and how do you feel about nascar letting toyota into nascar nextel cup and the nascar truck series racing.

I am very upset about it, glad to see waltrip get fined and docked points. I hope the toyotas drop straight to the back or just drop out of the race. Dale Jarret used to be one of my fav drivers but not now trader.

My favorite drivers are Matt Kenseth 17 and Edwards 99

Casual fan. Gotta pull for Ryan Newman 'cuz he's my hometown favorite. I watch maybe 15-30 minutes or so of each race...not sure what kind of fan that makes me.

As for Toyota, I guess if they meet all the criteria, all they can do is make the sport better by keeping everyone else on their toes.

#3 FOREVER!
Dale Jr. now.
Hmmm, some Fords & Chevys made in Canada & Mexico.
Some Toyota's made in the good old USA. (Plus they made some ski boats!)
Lets see what they can do in Nascar.

What a race at the end.Kind of uneventful in the beginning, but that's plate racing.I usually root for my hometown buddys teams, not the drivers....York,Maine represents:

Ben Chase-Jackman,Denny Hamlin's Busch team
Brian Chase-Jackman #8 Dale Jr.
Dave Hansen-shock specialist #20 Tony Stewart
Troy Prince-rear tires, trackbar adj.Formerly on the #8 DEI team.Currently on Dale Jarret's Toyota team.(I guess he went were the money was)

As far as Toyota being on the cup circuit,it's a global economy. No one pitched a bitch when they went truck racing, but what a blackeye this event was for them.Probably not the publicity they were looking for.

waltrip is a gla$$ act and the Camery has more US content than most Fords, or Chevy's so that stereo type bullsh*t just doesn't holdup. Hell befor to long Honda will join and they at least build 100% U.S. content on some models, don't think US boys can say that for any.

Love the big three took care of my elders but the times ah change , well unless your from the backwoods and liked stamped sh*t.

How do you arrange to ski in the lake at Daytona? The pre-race program showed some ski jumps in the lake. I a$$ume there is a course somewhere in there too ?!?!?

A couple of years ago I a$$igned cars to my daughters to chear on.

#48 - Lowes / Jimmie J.
#20 - Home Depot / Tony S.
#24 - Dupont / Jeff G.
#38 (?) M&M car for obvious reasons

my wife picked #8 Dale Jr.

I stuck by the #22 Cat car

Needless to say everyone else in the family wins, but me. (except for Daytona several years ago when Sterling M. decided to get out of his car to fix his fender and cleared the way for Ward B. to win)

Today we all crashed. Was hoping Mark M would finally get the big win at the end, but it was an exciting fininsh!

Joke - A Canoe Race

(thought it was fitting given the discussion)

A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (General Motors) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race. On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to
investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order, American
management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion. They advised, of course,
that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing. Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 a$$istant superintendent steering manager. They also implemented a new performance system that
would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the "Rowing Team Quality First Program," with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new
equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was out-sourced to India.

glad to see harvick win. Not a chevy fan, but would never hear the end of it if martin won in a chevy instead of a ford. Luck was on his side until the end. I think harvick's pa$$ had a lot to do with the last accident if you watch the replay. In my opinion anyway. Good race though.

We go to Talladega every year and been pullin for Schrader. This will probably be his last year.   Who was that a$$ that flew down pit road on that caution and came back on the track and took out Schrader 21, I think it was D Blaney.

Flat tire or not, that was the most rediculous thing I've ever seen. No way he was going back on that track at that speed without taking some else with him. I don't think Schrader knew what hit him.

Ps. There is nothing in the world like spending four days partying in the red Talladega clay listening to Lenard Skinard, specially after a rain storm comes through and turns it all to mud. I've had a few out of body experiences in that place, yeehaw.

It was good to see RCR back in victory lane at Daytona, 6 years to the day

it was the 22 cat car, not 100%sure but I do believe it was blaney. There is always next week for the ford boy's. I am not to worried, they invented plate races to slow the ford's down so the chevy could catch them. I am only kidding don't anyone get made. All the teams do a great job of putting on a great show.

Should NASCAR have thrown the caution at the time of the last-lap accident?

I bet if Jr. was leading the flagman would have broke his arm trying to wave the caution flag

I'm still one of Mark Martin's biggest and most long-term fans, even though he broke my heart and dressed in a bowtie. But after multiple reviews of the unfolding accident, when you first saw smoke coming from Kyle Busch's car triggering the accident, I believe Harvick was ahead. So I'm ok with it. I was there and if you had your head out the window you could have heard me screaming in Michigan.

87BFN (James), You are hereby invited, nope, sorry, it's a mandate, that you attend the 600 race with us here in Charlotte over Memorial Day weekend. We've got the best set-up known to man for watching a Cup race and we can bring a large handfull of guys in with us to partake. It's also a big and long weekend of boating and Correct Crafts, so what-say we tie them together. You other race fans need to crawl out of the woodwork and make this weekend with us. Call me if you like for details, 704-451-5080, but I guarantee you'll never see and enjoy a race better, no matter how much you pay for a ticket. And that's before you combine it with a Fri-Sat-Mon of CCFan boating. Plus you can tour most of the race shops. Heck, Dale Jr LIVES here in Mooresville and has a '66 Nautique. OK, that's stretching it, but he does live here.

James, Because we have such a great infield set-up (meaning high elevation, 100% track visibility- you can only do this at Charlotte-Lowes) you don't get a reserved ticket. You can make changes to your plans all the way up to the drop of the flag. Just do the best you can and it won't negatively affect our plans at all. Won't you have Sat-Sun-Mon off? We can get all the tickets/pa$$es we need. Don't worry about the BFN, as we'll set you up with a CC to run. And while you're here you can tour a Roush and Yates facility if you want.   Send me an email to reidp@bellsouth.net if you want to discuss further. And we indeed have room for plenty more.

Mark, John, and James and any others; That weekend is just under 3 months away, but don't worry about it being a big ordeal from a planning standpoint. All you need to do is jump in the car and drive. Got you covered on the the lodging and race set-up, and no need to haul a boat as we got you covered there. Mark however, you may need to pack an extra set of testicles, as you may not otherwise be prepared for the additional power. Lake Norman is calling your name guys.

Oh, and did I mention the boat club has no cell phone signal so I can really hide.

Our invitation is still open all the way up to race day for inclusion into our race track set-up. 87, MM, jbear, Waterdog, Jmurph and others; we could also turn this into a mini-reunion. We will keep the two bedroom cottage available for a few more weeks as well as the 4 bed camper for any interested parties. Hotels in the area fill up really quick if not filled already. I really hope some of you guys can join us.

Mark, the race is Sunday the 26th, with Monday being Memorial Day. The race typically starts 5-6:00PM and runs on til about 11:00PM. Don't worry about bringing the boat as it can turn a quick trip into a chore, and we'll have one here for you to commandeer with pleasure. I'm gonna pencil you in.

jbear, We ARE your family, so you need to choose between those gap-toothed, knuckle-draggin, scraggly-headed Berrys and us. Never mind, I just described half of CCFan so you're excused and we'll hope to see you in August.

Chris, Hers wat wi gat, heer at tha trac in carlotte. (OK, I got my spelling jab in). For a flat piece of ground, assuming you mean somewhere to crash, we have the downstairs bedroom in the cottage where MM & Blondie will we taking the upstair room. We have several guys that stay at the track in their campers on our site, but I usually just go out on Sunday and play at the lake Saturday.
Below are pics from our set-up at the track taken from either on top of the platform looking down or up at it. As you can tell the view is great and higher in elev than many seats in the stands and allowing a view of the cars all the way around the track. Plus the jumbo-trons close by in the infield are great. We are on the highest point of the entire infield which is built up here for a road course track bank. We buy the passes, actually an armband now, at the track when we enter under the third turn tunnel. And some really good food to boot. That's chef ReidP on butt duty.

EDIT: We also have the big tent/canopy so you can stay out of the heat OR rain, and two satellite TVs to watch replays as well as the Indy race run just prior. All you have to do is show up.

Great set up reid. That infield looks a little more tame than Dega. When we first started going to the races there we were just tent camping, the wife had to use the portajohn so she went for a walk. Came back 15 minutes later with 2 marriage proposals and a whole new understanding of the term "git her done". Now she only goes off on her own with our Rottie by her side. Just a bunch of good ole boys having fun but man it can get a little out there.

Reid

Well if I can get things lined up and it will be last minute if I can, I'll bring some rib's and the smoker, maybe some BoBoRita's too. just don't drink them fast or more than two in an hour's time.

THE SHORTS WERE RED!!! It was the camera, I swear. A lot tamer than Taladega, Alan, and our own PRIVATE portajohn on top of that. Please notice that the ladder IS safety strapped to the trailer. but still can become something to negotiate after some indulgence. The meat is definitely what's referred to here as a pork butt, often done on a rotisserie(sp) but we normally pile the coals all to the side and just let it be for about 4-5 hours, and your're right Randy, it is tasty. We also have 1/2 dozen flavors of wings going all day in the fryer.

Quite a few Gordon fans around but they catch their share of abuse in our camp. Excluding our group, there are lots of members here of the organization F.A.G. also; that's Fans Against Gordon.

Where is BFN87 (James Bragg), as I was hoping to have him at the race?

Eric, I think you have to go further south before they start eating things like cow brains. I know they eat that kind of stuff over there in Brunstuckey, but that's an exception.

We'd go up to Michigan motor speedway for years and the thing i remember most besides the nightlife at the campground was the beer cans constantly raining underneath the stands, Cans were allowed and you would get rid of them under the stand. I bet alot of them were Bush cans
