Has anyone used the StarboardAS(The AS stands for anti-slip) plastic sheet lumber for flooring? If so,what were the advantages and/or disadvatages of working with the product.And are you happy with the finished product?
I am thinking about using it in my Southwind and installing snap in/out carpet.

Bhed, I realy couldn't find what it's made of on the web site. My concern is how you would fasten it down.

I premise my statement by saying advice is easy to give and difficult to take so it is only one man's opinion. I have some experience with starboard. It is a wonderful material for many things. It would not be my choice for decking and I can tell you I have never seen it used as decking on a boat. I can also say anti-slip is a relative term beacause it is slick when wet. For example I considered it for runners on a trailer and was discouraged by my councel. I was told the boat would not want to stay put on the trailer. Starboard is very heavy and in my opinion not cost effective. If you choose to use it I can imagine no other way to fasten it down other than screws. Let us know what you determine. bj

As far as fastening goes, I had planned to use stainless steel screws with stainless recessed washers and fasten into the existing floor supports where possible. The skirt-boards will hold it down around the perimeter. Do you think that will work OK?

Bhed, Are you planning on removing the original floor? The max sheet size is 54 X 96 so you will end up with edges.
What are you thinking about to trim those edges?
What was in it originaly?
Why do you want to change it?

I would not do it, I have used this product, and flooring is not a good application. It is made of High Density PolyEthylene (HDPE). It is not structural, it will sag between the floor supports, it is an "oily" plastic, There is no adhesive that will stick to it on a long term basis. It is very heavy, it weighs nearly as much as water. (mayby a good thing if you ballast the boat anyway).

65, That's what I was afraid of (HDPE) and the reason I asked how he was planning on fastening it. You are corect that nothing will stick to it and the reason they make glue bottles out of it!!
Bhed, I did find a source for the "grass" carpet in my 77. Is it what was in the Southwind? What color?
