ok I know my firing order it is 5678 on the pass side and 1234 on the drivers side (its written on the intake) but I dont know where to hook them up on the dist cap. ( there are no numbers at all) just got the electronic upgrade for the dist. also Im guessing I need to retime now, so I know how to get to tdc but then what?

There should be mark for the number one plug wire on the distributor cap, then put your plug wires on according to firing order from there. When you do the timing make sure the rotor matches the number one plug wire on the cap. If anything it my be 180 off, just rotate accordingly. If there is no mark already on the cap, mark number one yourself and go from there. Just make sure the rotor button matches the one you pic for number one when it supposed to.

do I go left or right from number one?

depends on rotation of your motor. You go with the direction that the dist. spins.

thanks, but I think I F**ED, after getting a new coil, new wires, and the electronic ignition upgrade I am still getting no spark, and like another forum on here as soon as I turn the key off I get a big spark.

Take a deep breath logic. Screwing up your plugs wires has got to be the most common mistake made.

Pull the coil wire, make sure the ignition is off. Pull plug #1, using a breaker bar and socket turn the engine in the direction that it would run until you get #1 cylinder to top dead center on it's compression stroke. To determine the compression stroke put your finger in the plug hole, with the piston on it's way up you will feel pressure forcing you finger out. That's what you want so then turn the motor with the bar until your pointer is on TDC on the balancer. Remove your cap and the rotor will be pointing to #1. That's where #1 wire will go and then Install the rest of the wires in the correct firing order and you should be good to go.

It's quite simple but easy to mess up, take your time and think it through.

thanks 81. But I think I have bigger problems. Just had a buddy come over and do exactly what you said but still no luck. I am getting no spark. but I get a big spark when I turn the key off, rotor does turn though

Big spark when your turning the key off means that there is a issue where your coil is being grounded all the time. The ground to the coil should pulse at every cylinder fire.

ok thanks, I have 2 wires on the - side of my coil. The black one that goes to dist. (electronic conversion) and a grey one that goes towards the back ( it is in the wiring harness)

well that's the problem, you should have atleast three if not four wires connected to the coil. grey (-) and purple (+) wire from the harness and then two leads from the electronic conversion or one lead from the points.

if you only have one lead coming from the dist with a conversion kit then the kit isn't installed correctly, you have to have a power feed to the conv as well as a ground, one wire systems are for point type ignitions only. With one lead you cannot supply power to the module for the conv kit.
