I'm going to take a stab at polishing the gel on my '89. Is the stripe actually part of the gel (colored through), or do I need to be careful of this when polishing?
Does everyone else just tape off the graphics? Mine are actually in pretty good shape...I would not want to remove them.
One last question - any good tricks for removing the mess left after removing pinstripes? Goo-gone is only working with a lot of effort.
Thanks

Yes, the stripe is gelcoat- polish away.
Im also curious what the standard procedure is for buffing over/around decals. I have only tackled my top deck so far- not sure how well the pinstriping and lettering would hold up.

Dan, Acetone will work allot faster than goo gone and it will not hurt the gel.
Tim, Pinstriping is a problem since there isn't much of it to hold on to the gel. I always mask off any vinyl before HD buffing.
