| Ok, I'm doing something wrong I hope. It will not pick up any water, which hose do I disconnect and put in the bucket? The hose coming right out of the hull or the hose on the bottom of the transmission cooler. And does it take awhile to pick up water or right away? Thanks |

The hose at your pickup in the hull should be put in a 5 gallon bucket with water in it, your garden hose should also be placed in the bucket, there should be a draw as soon as the engine is started. Once running turn the garden hose on to maintain the water level in the bucket. You should see water exiting the exhaust pretty soon after the engine is running.

Not knowing your exact setup, Ford, Chevy, year, etc. it's hard for me to say exactly.
Perhaps the best way to explain is follow the intake hose from the hull intake which should go to a strainer (if equipped) then the trans cooler, you should be able to draw water before either location, in my experience the simplest way is disconnecting from the pickup before the strainer because you have more hose to work with. ------------- http://www.correctcraftfan.com/diaries/details.asp?ID=1143" rel="nofollow - Mi Bowt |

You can tap in anywhere between the hull-RWP, but makes sure your water supply is going towards the RWP and not the hull pickup! ------------- |

| It was my first try at this, but I unhooked the hose from the bottom of the trans cooler and put it in a bucket. It would not pick up any water. It was acting like it was blowing air out, maybe I have the water pump on backward but don't think so. Sorry its a 1989 with a 351 Ford |

Did you replace the pump? Remove it for service? Just bringing out of storage? What did you do to warrant the fresh water flush? A little background would be helpful. I'm not too familiar with that pulley driven pump that CC is famous for but posts that I read say putting it on backwards is a possibility, but that could be referring to other years and/or engine combinations. My pump is crankshaft driven and rather sailor-proof. The entire RW intake system MUST be air-tight though or you will have problems. |

This happended to me, I have a chevy engine tho. I changed out my old impeller and put the tubes on backwards that went to the raw water pump. The logical way when looking at it was actually incorrect. I could tell that water was not circulating when I saw the exhaust dry heaving. All i had to do was switch up the hoses and it chugged water down. I don't claim to be an expert when it comes to boats or engines, but I am 99.9% sure the General has his pump on backwards. he says it is blowing air out. I can see by looking at mine it could easily be installed backwards since the same pump is used for both forward and reverse rotation engines.
