Call White Lake. They got me decals for my '90 Ski Nautique a year ago. They had to be ordered through the factory- not sure if the BFN decals would be any different.

Michael, When you read the previous threads did you see the discussion about having them duplicated by a vinyl shop that does truck graphics? Since you can't get them anymore, this may be your only option.

michael, If you are having problems with uploading pictures, try using photobucket.com There are some instructions on how to use it I believe in the off topic section. Whatever software is used on the site is what this site likes!

Since you have stated that your boat is now naked, I take it you have removed the graphics. This complicates you having a sign shop make duplicates because they use a tracing of the old to scan into the computer and then fill in all the colors and shading. Now you need another boat to trace. The artwork can be created but this is very time consuming (expensive) and difficult to match the original.

Michael, I see that you were able to post the picture. The boat looks pretty clean.

OK, now you need to find another BFN so you can trace the lettering and take it, as well as, pictures (from our ref section?) to a sign shop.

When done, they should give you the graphics file which would make a wonderfull addition to this sites ref section. Hint! Hint!

Keep us informed.

Michael, That's great! It will make it very easy for your sign guy to reproduce them. Don't forget that the image file would make a great contribution to the ref section here.

does anyone know of a good person to reproduce these decals ????

this is the problem, the decals are supppose to be white and no one prints the color white that i can find. also the decals i have are red fade. they need to be changed to white.

if some one who has an original 89 barefoot with the white fade, i would like to get some detailed photos up close.

Posted By: barefoot86
Date Posted: June-19-2007 at 10:27am
I have had the same problem. I have not found anyone who has been able to do the fade either. I believe that you will get more response if you move this to the general discussion or boat maint section. I was going to take them to fast signs and get them done in light gray with blue accents. Any luck with vector files yet?

Posted By: Swiper
Date Posted: June-19-2007 at 10:35am
whats a vector file ?

kinkos has a roll scanner and im bringing it over to them tonight to get a tiff image.

i really need a photo of the decal up close. i need the all white decal.

what file should i scan it in as or what file should i scan it so i can convert it to ??

Micheal, I feel you should look for the printer of the vinyl first. They may want to scan the graphics themselves because they will do it or convert it to the program file they need for their printing equipment.

Have you been looking for printers that do large vinyl graphics for say truck trailers?

A vector file is one where all the points are plotted with a mathamatical relationship to one another. This allows the graphics to be enlarged or reduced without loosing any detail.

Where are you?

swiper,

I have a friend that can have your tiff file converted to an EPS file. He works for a company that makes embroidery equipment, so he will not be able to have it printed. It would save you some set up cost when you find someone to print it as well as allow it to be posted for others. You are the first person that I know has been able to find any of these in any color.

Keep looking for someone in you area that can print the vinyl. Find someone first before you scan to create any files. I feel you are better off with the printer doing the work. If you supply the file and there is something wrong, it will be your problem and not theirs!

the main problem is printing the color white. the decal is clear and the fade is white as well as the outline. the third color is grey that gives the 3d affect.

Check out Vinyl Graphics at www.vinylgraphics .
I just had the main hull 3D graphics and several smaller graphics done for my 90 Sport Nautique. They managed to reproduce the graphics from measurements and some photos I provided them. The final product came out perfect and looks exactly like the originals and in some aspects better. And, they cost me far less the then same graphics I had purchased from CC 7 years ago. Send your specs to Ryan at ryan@vglargeformat.com

the only problem with that is it is printed on white paper with black accent. my decal is a fade affect from top to bottom.

i talked to ryan there today. he sent me a quote based on some pics that i sent him of about $85 for both sides. He could do the fade, but could not see all the detail. I mentioned that you had a set in the wrong color and would also be contacting him about making some. He said that the orginal set would be helpful. Let me know what you come up with. What are you going to use to prep the surface and apply the graphics with. I had great results with Rapid Prep and Rapid Tac. Rapid Prep removes all grease, wax, and silicone. Rapid Tac is basically a water based solution similar to water and dish soap, but without chemical additives and perfumes, and is PH neutral. They are both available at Florida Graphic Supply at 800-582-0049 www.fgsi.com. 1 Qt spray bottles cost $10 Rapid Tac & $7.60 Rapid Prep. They ship as soon as the order is received. Vinyl Graphics may also carry similar products.
Good Luck

Nice..

Did you use the red decals as something to go off of? Or did your graphics guy make these from scratch.

The reason I ask is that 88 graphics are a bit different than 89. I don't have feet for OO's in Barefoot.

i bought the only set i could find in the country, problem is they were a set of red decals. so i had to put the decals on gloss black vinyl and then scan in each letter. then i had to photo shop the colors to white. i had to change each and every little fade square. it took me a few days but i got the job done. then i emailed each tif to ryan to print and he tweaked them it a little.

Swiper, just wanted to say that I've been following this thread closely...and thanks for all the effort! I'm another you'll be helping with these impossible decals. I looked a little last year and I believe you did get the last set...my boat was so oxidized that I had a 'photo negative' of the decals, but I wanted it cleaned up so badly that I didn't think to get a tracing.

mine is an '88 like mega's...how bad would it be to sub in the feet for the OO's. I like the feet and it is my boat...
Greg

Isn't it more than just the feet?

The 88's should read 2001 Barefoot Nautique. I thought the 89's read Barefoot Nautique.

I could be wrong though.

I pass by Town & River everyday on the way to work. When did you live there?
We live in the SW part of the Cape, pretty close to the end of Cape Coral Parkway.
We're originally from Long Island where we spent the summers racing catamarans all over the NE, and the winters skiing again all over the NE.

boat dr, reidp, MM, Marshall, TRBenj and all the other guys that drove hundreds/thousands of miles to be at GL made the reunion very special. It was a great time last year, however this year totally surpassed it. Wasn't even enough time to check out all the boats and chat with the members and their families was busy having so much fun.

Looking forward to a visit to the Pinkham's place, Shelbyville, and more off the water fun this winter. Hopefully I can visit some of the CA folks in their element soon too.

The Dude, you gotta make it next year!

A visit with Hollywood is time well spent...just lock up the wives and kids.

Better have plenty of beer on hand as well.

Swiper, does the lettering have color to it or is it just clear with the graph type look to it? I keep getting proofs from the graphics guy on a sky blue background, but my boat is dark blue. It seems like the decals were clear that I took off, but I can't remember.

they are white. you need to have the background color to see the decal online.

I see here that you were able to get 89 BFN decals. I have a side set that is white. I'm looking for the rear that reads COMPETITION BAREFOOT NAUTIQUE and the feet. My boat is white with red center. The decals ar black with the white shadow. Can anyone help me with the stern decals. A '90 would even work the font is the same and I could have the shadow and grid made off these.
Thanks for everyone help

Mark, Are you being facetious and saying they are hard to find?

Mark, the problem was the artwork or a tracing to scan.
