i have a 96' ski natique with the 5.8 gt-40 engine. i've been having problems with the engine starting after it is warm. sometimes it will start up if i give it some gas in nuetral and other times i have to wait five minutes before it will start. other times it wont start at all. i have tried changing the low pressure fuel pump but that didnt work.

Sounds like it could be vapor lock? Is there a vent to the gas tank on this boat? Have you tried opening your gas tank cap? Try this after it is warm - if you hear a 'whoosh' of air when you open it, it could be a contributing problem.

I had the problem once and one of the contributing factors was that the battery did not have enough Cold cranking amps to really turn it over fast enough. You need a 675 or better CCA battery. Look on the skidim.com discussion board and you will see many with this problem and lots of good advice other than the battery.

I have the same problem with my '94. I need to put it in neutral and give it gas to start it. I also had to set the idle mixture screw high to keep it running. Now I get yelled at for going too fast in no wake zones. It shouldn't be like that. I even changed out the carb. Any ideas other than vapor lock or battery? they have been ruled out....

I had the same problem and had to replace the computer.
