| So after finally getting the boat to run right at altitude now this. '87 Nautique 2001. Out skiing having a great time tried to restart the boat after sitting for awhile...nothing...thought maybe neutral switch was off...that was okay. Notice that no dash functions are working, blower, horn, etc. Boat is completely dead. Back at home. Check power from battery to engine with multi-meter its okay. Ended at ignition switch that is getting power at both ends. Tried to skip that still nothing. No, idea what else it could be. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks. |

Last Friday we had the same thing happen after 1 hour of footing. This one was simple. The negative cable pulled out of the terminal end on the block. Like nutty said, are you using the negative on the battery or the block when you are testing? I'm not questioning your skills, just throwing out an obvious problem.

| Thanks for help guys. I already checked it on both the block and the battery. Would you guys rule out anything on engine at this point and focus on the dash wiring? Thanks again. |

I've got a reset button on the rear of my engine. I don't know if yours has a similiar device or if it has anything to do with the problem, but what the hey. And with vehicle electrical systems, I wouldn't rule out anything.

A visual check to see if it's simply connected, or a specific voltage check? It sounds like it's a loose/corroded battery cable at either the block or battery (more likely battery terminals). Try remove and reinstall and see what happens. ------------- |
