Now I am not a chevy fan when it comes to nascar in any way. Just thought some of you might like to know that Jr. will be racing with the #88 next season.
Just when I thought it couldn't get worse first DJ goes forien on me then Yates lets his number goto a chevy. WEll better a chevy then a camry.... NO I am not trying to start an import/amercian despute just stating an opinion..

It was Ralph's number before Robert got and while they raced each othertoo.

the Amp paint looked a little week sure the Dew will be a lot better. Now they are going after the under 21 growd.

Speaking of racing, we are heading to Big Rapids tomorrow for the barefoot race. I talked to the organizer and he said there are (8) teams registered. I know it's a hike, but I know of at least (4) of the teams that will be racing at 8:00, will also be fun footing the rest of Saturday, and Sunday morning. We've got two cabins reserved for Friday and Saturday. If you and Jake aren't doing anything, might be worth the drive. Last blast for the season. Perfect water, crazy footing, and lots of beer.

I don't have an issue with the 88 going to JR but it doesn't seem right for it to be on a Hendrick bowtie. Guess I got used to seeing the 28, 38, 88 all on Yates Fords. Just another sign of the times, even a one time powerhouse like Yates can hardly keep up with the big buck teams.

79, They're definatley chasing the under 21 crowd now, might be trying to clean up the beer drinking, partying image of the 8 car but I don't think you'll see the infield at Dega partying with a cooler full of AMP anytime soon. They're gonna market the hell out of Jr and make sure he washes behind his ears and turn him into a pretty boy like Johnson and Gordon. Thats why Busch had to go, too damn ugly for their marketing even though he's a good racer.

As one might imagine, the JR 88 story was on the front page of the sports section of the Charlotte Observer this morning and had a blurb at the top of the front cover. They posted several lists pertaining to the number's history:

Races: 1264
Wins:    65
Poles    52
Top 5s   315
Top 10s 526

Drivers in the number 88:
Jarrett 29 wins
D.Waltrip 25 wins (Yep, it was a Chevy)
B.Allison 8 wins    (Was Buick and/or Olds?)
Buck Baker 3 wins

Oh, other big news: Did you also hear that there's another similar new soda that's gonna be advertising on JRs car as well to make sure they keep some of the older crowd. This new soda has Viagra mixed in with it and is to be called "Mount-and-do."   (I didn't make that up)
