Chris, Jim in Houston had to go this route because he didn't have any luck finding seats. Not a bad option because chances are if you do find some they would need plywood, foam and vinyl anyway.

Jim's drawing shows 1/4" aluminum but I think the original is 3/8". My Tique is 300 miles from here so I won't be able to check it until I go up over Christmas. Tim, is your Tique close to you? John, I keep 2 boats up north and then bring 1 home for the winter to work on. The original intent (although it always doesn't work out) is that a coat of varnish goes on a boat every 2 years. Of coarse now with the fiberglass Tique, it will be every 3 years. I need to re gel the deck of the Tique. The PO was very evasive when I saw the boat, realized the deck had been painted and asked him what was the paint on the deck. All he told me was he had a friend do it and didn't know. Well, it turns out that this friend of his didn't know very much ether. A gas spill (I had a rag in hand and wiped immediately!)around the tank fill lifted the paint and now people sitting on the gunnel with sun tan lotion on has softened it to a point it is now a dirty grey mess!! Right now, I have the Dunphy here getting stripped to bare wood.
